The Long Shop Museum is an impressive institution that showcases the advancements in engineering manufacture during the 18th century. It offers interactive exhibits on the Industrial Revolution, featuring working steam engines and various other fascinating artifacts such as fire engines and tractors. This museum pays tribute to the Garrett family's adaptability and inventiveness over two centuries, illustrating where and how these remarkable inventions were designed and made. Visitors can delve into the history of invention while exploring important aspects of social history.

The visit to the Long Shop Museum was great, the staff was very friendly and helped our children to finish the kids activity by taking them through the museum to find what they had missed. The museum itself is great to understand the history of Richard Garrett and family and their role in the Industrial revolution. The children (and I) were impressed by the well that had been dug, much deeper than the Big Ben's tower is tall.Just so that they could get to the softer water underneath the chalk layers. The well produced so much water that it was shared with the village. What was also very interesting was the significant role of the women of the Garreth family establishing women's rights. Very impressive to see what they have achieved.

Lovely museum and free for art pass members. Very relaxed just walk around and see lots of old steam equipment in its original location. So much history and many interesting objects.

Tim H — Google review

This remarkable museum traces the development of engineering manufacture in Leiston. Following the history of the Garrett family over more than two centuries, it is a tribute to their adaptability and inventiveness. You will see steam engines, fire engines, tractors, and much more, and crucially how and where they were designed and made, There is much to learn about invention and social history here. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Mike T — Google review

This museum show the development of a local foundry that progressed from making agricultural equipment to steam engines. Quite a wide scope of history in one location.

Clive K — Google review

We came here on a whim during a half term visit to the area and we were so glad we did. We found the family, the machinery and the exhibits fascinating and the staff were wonderful hosts who were knowledgeable and very kind to our children. The children already want to go back… the adults too!

Zelee H — Google review

Fantastic to see how it was done in years gone by

Ken R — Google review

Excellent museum. Very enthusiastic and well informed volunteers.

Simon H — Google review

Didn't really know what to expect when we arrived but a fascinating place. Be prepared to spend a fair amount of time here if you want to see and read it all. Very cheap admission price and well worth every penny. Ample parking and although we attended on a day they didn't have engines in steam it wasn't disappointing.

Carol B — Google review

Very well laid out museum. Interesting for children too. History of local women in work too. Nice clean cafe. A good experience.

Bob H — Google review

Leiston seems to have been a company town, run by the Garrett family. The Steam Museum contains a wide variety of their products down the decades, from scythes to toys and washing machines to steam engines and fire engines. The steam engines are especially spectacular.

Craig P — Google review

Industrial museum with local history exhibits and connections to steam heritage. The Long Shop itself - an unmodernised early 19thC galleried industrial workshop - is the heart of the museum. The wood and iron framed shed, housing a static steam engine and multiple displays, bears the mark of two hundred years of craftsmanship. It's a fantastic sight.Restoration projects are always going on. Currently, a trolleybus originally made on site and rescued from somewhere, is being re-built. There are also some historic working steam traction engines, including a roller and a rare Suffolk Punch road locomotive. An annual Steampunk event in the summer is always a good day, and there is a programme of live steam days and events throughout the year.

Martin N — Google review

Very friendly volunteers and staff. Collections are well cared for though a bit of dusting-vacuuming is needed in places.

Christopher G — Google review

If you are interested in industrial machines through the ages, including steam engines, boilers, etc, this is a must see.

Stephen C — Google review

We went for the Steampunk Spectacular and weren't dissapointed. Staff excellent as were the steampunk entertainers. Really enjoyed the traction enginges and steam train.

Ancient Ruins

Leiston Abbey is an old abbey that was abandoned in the 13th century. It's now a ruin with some car park and is free to enter. The atmosphere can be a bit spoiled by the two shabby huts that are positioned right in front of the ruins, but it's still worth a visit if you're interested in ancient buildings. There is no toilet or cafe here, just a good place to wander around.

Visited Leiston Abbey early on a Sunday morning in November so had the Abbey to ourselves. It is a large ruin of an Abbey surrounded by country side. There are barriers around the building which I tried to avoid in the pictures, I assume for our safety, which take a bit of the magic away but I enjoy my time there, not long but if passing worth a drop in.There is a barn there that holds private functions, wedding, yoga etc

Peter D — Google review

When we were there it was quiet, sunny and warm = idyllic. We walked in and all around and left, having enjoyed our brief stay a lot. Best part: it was free

Dani S — Google review

Atmospheric ruins of a 13th century abbey. There's a car park and it's free to enter the site. The atmosphere is somewhat spoiled by the two shabby huts/offices positioned right in front of the ruins. Some signage but it's a bit weather-beaten. No toilets or cafe, just a good place for a wander

Andy M — Google review

An interesting site tucked away - currently undergoing some conservation work so there are heras fencing cordons in place, please be aware. Track down to the parking area is shared with the neighbouring business facility - some potholes and final speed bump is very aggressive, but otherwise suitable for all cars. Ample space to walk around leisurely and not feel crowded. Some interpretation boards for site information.

Amy C — Google review

It’s a worth while visit as it’s still an awesome structure, just use your imagination to think of the remarkable builders that erected it.

Michael W — Google review

Lots of fences up at the moment but still possible to walk round. Very little information about the site there.

Danae B — Google review

Low key site (no amenities or oversight), but worth a visit. Good signs explain everything well.

Diane M — Google review

What a great place for a wander! Stunning Abbey, which when we visited had an Easter Music school attending! The music sounded so lovely as we wandered around! They look like they are in the process of working in the area, but it didn’t spoil the look of this historical site! We stumbled upon it by chance & worth a little stop! It’s not massive but is beautiful!

Claire B — Google review

A very impressive abbey in its time... I hope EH manages to conserve . The English heritage sign on the road has been knocked down do not noticed from the road

A G — Google review

The buildings are used for music practice which gives a great atmosphere. We enjoyed some talented pianists and violinists during our visit; a highlight of our day. They are planning some restoration works so there are fences and I imagine it'll just get better.

Vernon R — Google review

Interesting wander around a historic site, lots of information boards.

Julie C — Google review

Very strange place free to look round the abbey lots of construction here. But really weird vibes from the surrounding buildings habited or not? All Mish mash of ages but look like people have lived there at some point ... Odd

Bird watching area

RSPB Minsmere is a captivating coastal nature reserve that boasts several bird-watching hides, alongside numerous nature trails and woodlands. Wetlands are also present on the site, adding to the diversity of wildlife in the area. Although it may be disappointing for some visitors that dogs are not allowed except for assistance animals, this policy ensures minimal disruption to the natural ecosystem of the preserve.

This was my first visit to RSPB Minsmere and I thoroughly enjoyed it, the staff are very friendly and informative. The maps are easy to follow and the routes are well signposted. There are many hides to view from and a range of habitats for different wildlife, including wetlands, beach, gorse area, meadows and woodland. There is also an adventure area for children. After a 5 hour ramble I enjoyed a lovely cup of tea and sweet potato roll from a delightful cafe, which was clean , well stocked with a range of hot and cold food and drinks. Obviously not leaving until I had made a visit to the lovely shop stocked with all the RSPB favourites. The only down side was that I lost my sunglasses around the beach/gorse area.

Julie — Google review

Amazing place. Great shop and coffee shop. Toilets are down some stairs but there is a toilet accessible for wheelchair users. Staff were very helpful. Mobility scooter available to use (book in advance). Love that you can get woodland, Wetland and beach in one venue. Just drive slowly on the way in as it's very narrow.

Lesley G — Google review

We booked the loan of a mobility scooter for our daughter. It gives you so much freedom! The boardwalk and paths are so accessible.I would have appreciated some posters in the hide to help me identify some of the birds as I was hearing all sorts of names from other visitors with all the 'kit' and I hadn't a clue what I was looking for. Too used to my garden birds at home

Ian W — Google review

It was my first visit to Minsmere and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who shares an interest in conservation and wildlife in general. There's ample parking, it costs £9 pp or if you're a member then it's free of course, there's a cafe and a shop. The toilets are clean, I didn't find any other toilets on the walks though, so my advise is GO even if you don't want to. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and keen to get you to sign up for a subscription. The pathways are clear and marked and good for disabled access, however some parts of the walks will be a real challenge as they can be steep, uneven or even sandy, obviously by the beech. There's lots for children to get into, especially in the woodland area. I was a bit surprised that they don't give you a map, instead having to rely on my phone which was useless as I had no signal, however, they point you in a general direction and off you pop! There are maps located all around the reserve so I took a picture and used that. Have a fab time, keep safe and enjoy! ❤

Carl G — Google review

Great place to discover less than common nature. A true utopia for the natural world-lover. Lots of trails, unspoilt views, and rare habitats for Britain's most endangered.Just a pity about the price of food and the restaurant service. £4.80 for a sausage roll.. wait for it... £9.80 for a jacket potato, and that's without an extra topping.Someone's gotta pay for all those Bittern habitats! Will pay pilgrimage again, but will take own snacks next time.

Ross B — Google review

Beautiful amazing place. Saw black adders, deer, birds of prey. The staff are so helpful and knowledgeable. We met a ranger that was so inspiring, a truly great afternoon.

S M — Google review

Stunning place, just wish we hadn’t taken our dog as we had to leave her in the car as no dogs allowed anywhere (unless assisted). Had to cut out trip short whilst 1 of us stayed with her. Still… would definitely re visit and would look forward to it.

Matthew B — Google review

Its a stunning place with a lot of wildlife, especially birds and insects near the coast. There are plenty of hides to sit in and watch over the marshes and a forest as well. The cafe made very delicious food and the staff were efficient.

What a Stunning place and the weather was extremely nice as well , had an extremely enjoyable time and saw Bittern , Snape , Marsh Harrier, Waterrail, just now started Birdwatching so don't know many names of birds , relying on people to tell us .

This has to be one of the best reserves by far. Stunning views..being so close to the coast really gives that extra touch..and the different birds 🐦Staff and volunteers were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The coffee shop is a must pit stop...the vegetarian pasty was just too good. And they do lovely coffees too.I would recommend everyone and anyone to visit this place. Even if you're not into bird watching. The tranquil and serene atmosphere here is something else!Keep up the good work guys!

We met at main car park to mountain bike through the local area. Great rides over different terrain including heathland and Forrest trails pretty dry considering all the recent weather. Good pub stop at Westleton Crown for coffee.

Enjoyed our walk in Minsmere very much. We did the 2 mile beach walk with several bird Hydes around the lakes and part of a forest walk. Easy paths to follow. Well worth a visit.

Glynis M — Google review

We visited RSPB Minsmere to see if we could spot some wild adders and we did!! Super thrilled with the visit, the walking routes are stunning and there's so many different birds that can be spotted.

Dunwich Heath and Beach is a place where people can go for walks, birdwatch, and geocache. It also has a tea room and shop.

My father in law was kind enough to gift my family with National Trust Yearly passes, so as our first visit away from Flatford Mill (our closest and extremely treasured and gorgeous) National Trust site we thought we'd come to Dunwich, it's as beautiful as it looks, with stuff for the kids to do on the walks, eg bug hunting, welly throwing. A small lay area but the picnic spot and cafe kept the kids entertained, the beach stretches as far as the eye can see. I highly recommend this place. Without the year pass it is quite pricey to park, its nice we don't have that to care about.

Reuben T — Google review

What a hidden gem! Stunning location not overcrowded, absolutely beautiful. Parking inexpensive and a dog friendly cafe and public toilets on site. Well worth spending a few hours either on the beach or exploring the nature reserve. Beware of Adders!

Kerrie P — Google review

Nice place to take various routes around the heath on foot or just head for the beach. Off-road mobility scooters are available if you book in advance. Tea room is very popular within the Coastguard Cottages. Parking is pay and display

Ian W — Google review

Loved this NT beach and trail. The day was cold and windy but the welcome was very warm indeed. Scan your NT membership card to get free parking. Delicious food in the tea room with a beautiful view. Toilets. Lots of trails and a part pebble and sand beach. Grabbed a stick and made some art too.

Charlotte I — Google review

Had to wait for the rain to stop and when it did, was not dissapointed! The sky opened up and the sun came out, it was beautiful. The ocean was still churning up as the tide was coming in. Lots of beach finds such as wonderfully shells and rocks. Locals said the beach was affected by recent storm so much was washed up into shore. Found driftwood too. No fees, no waiting, plenty of space, and very dog friendly. Didn't get to see everything we wanted and we plan on going back. Wonderful time 🥰

Mariah W — Google review

A lovely walk with varying circular lengths of 1.5 to 2.5 miles through heathlands and woodland, the path is exceptionally well laid out, with only a few muddy bits in the middle, so a good pair of walking boots or wellies is essential. Perfect for dog walkers and families alike (unfortunately the day we went it was quite foggy with very little visibility)

M K — Google review

Another beautiful National Trust. The heath is stunning with purples, greys and yellows, even on a cloudy day.Everyone working at the Heath today was so super friendly. We volunteered to do some litter picking on the way round (all equipment provided) and in return for a free drink token - really great incentive! We (a 9 and 2 year old) also did the Smuggler's trail as we walked around and they were rewarded with some crayons and a wristband. The beach is glorious and shingle, our favourite kind of beach. Very strong current but great for the kids to throw pebbles into and get a little wet!Summer of play activities were available on the cliff top by the cafe - lots of games. All in all, a wonderful day out!

Amy D — Google review

Had a fabulous day at Dunwich Heath yesterday and yes, the weather did help to make the day but at anytime this is an amazing place to spend a day.If you are a National Trust member then parking is completely free, if not then it's a £6 charge (2023)There are so many walks in this area, including to the RSPB Minsmere. My favourite is the walk through the heath returning passing the Abbey ruins which has the amazing art installation of the stained glass windows. There is also the option of just relaxing on the fabulous beach or a paddle in the sea.We actually did a fabulous walk to Sizewell which may seem a strange place to visit and yes, the power station does look imposing and foreboding! But the village is quaint and traditional and there is a tearoom and public loos for a refreshment stop.We walked there via the Suffolk Coast Path on and behind what remains of the cliffs then returned along the fabulous flat sloping beach walking in the cooling waves! But this is only an option if the tide is out, other than that it could be a trudge along the shingle! We calculated that there and back is approx 7 miles and a lovely walk. No map needed just head for the 'golf ball' 😃

Sue — Google review

Had a lovely visit here this week with my family, it had some beautiful scenery and a colourful landscape. On arrival at about 2pm there are lots of informative signs and maps showing you the different routes you can take and the duration each walk would take.I also visited the information centre and was kindly greeted and told about the heath, next I went to the café for a hot drink which was lovely. After I completed the grey route card in about 30 minutes (saw a pheasant and other birds).I had a swim in the sea and went home.Definitely a great day out for anyone in the area.

Daniel W — Google review

A beautiful spot for walks, plus cafe. Small play area for children. Unless you are an NT member, you have to pay for the parking, but there is plenty of space. Worth checking the website in advance for times of activities for children and for maps of nature trails. Or just turn up and enjoying the beach and walks.

Anna E — Google review

Been here 3x now, such a beautiful place. Yet to see it in flower just seem to keep missing it. Plenty of walks. This is one of them beautiful places that's getting taken by the sea.

Boom Z — Google review

Such a lovely place to visit. Easy access to the beach via a hilly pathway. Walks over the heath. Lovely views to enjoy. Great little cafe with helpful friendly staff but make sure if you want lunch you go early as on busy days they run out of sandwiches etc. Great cakes if you just want coffee and cake. Easily accessible adapted toilet but you need a radar key. Other toilets were spotless. We didn't 2 lovely days here on a visit to Suffolk.

Bridget M — Google review

Love it here one of my favourite NT places to visit. I think the best way to describe it is it's good for the soul. Lovely walks through stunning scenery any season, bird song in one ear and lapping waves in the other. Even when the car park is full the place never seems crowded. Facilities all good. Clean toilets, cafe and nice second hand book shop.

Terry P — Google review

Staff were very friendly and helpful. If you are not a member then you will need the PayByPhone app to pay for parking.Good play area for children and a nice tea room (a little pricey).Nice walks and views. The dog enjoyed the walk in the area where he was allowed off the lead and the beach.Facilities were clean. The amount of time spent here depends on how far you want to walk and if stopping to eat. So, could be a good place for a whole day visit or just a couple of hours.

The Southwold Lighthouse is a 19th-century seaside tower that offers visitors the opportunity to climb its spiral staircase and enjoy panoramic views. The lighthouse, which is situated in a town and has stunning sea views, features lamps at the top while also providing an exciting experience for those who are interested in heights. Though it may take some time to get to the top, taking precautions such as wearing knee pads is recommended for those who aren't comfortable with heights.

Great tour and a great price.Mike the tour guide was knowledgeable, engaging and had lots of great facts and was a nice guy. Made me want to come back and do the adnams tour aswell now. We really enjoyed it and the views highly recommended if you don't mind the heights.

Russ — Google review

It is private now so public cannot visit which is a shame. In a nice location, middle of houses and pub next door. Worth a visit (to the outside) as makes for a nice photo

Juliette S — Google review

Rewarding visit! Our guide Susanna was wonderfully knowledgeable, approachable and professional. Amazing views from the top and actually a really beautiful building. Recommended

Joanne C — Google review

Well worth a visit for the excitement of going up the spiral staircase and seeing the lamps at the top. There's also the view across the sea. Took me a while to get to the top as I was crawling up the stairs - if you're not a fan of heights then probably best to consider your options carefully or get some knee pads.

Chris M — Google review

We went on the Adnams tour, Mike was a great tour guide. Views were spectacular.

Jo B — Google review

A very informative tour and we were fortunate to have great views from the top despite it being a rainy day. The guide had a lot of knowledge and was very happy to answer questions. I would say the tour is more suited to teenagers and adults than younger children, as my 9yr old found it difficult listening to all of the information at the top. Ideally Adnams might consider two types of tour - a quick climb up and down the lighthouse for families with younger children and the current one for those who are interested in the full details.

Anna E — Google review

Loved our light house experience. Bev was extremely knowledgeable and gave us lots of time to look at the views and ask questions. We highly recommend this tour. we got 10% off in the Adnam's shop and a free drink too!

Jenny G — Google review

Never seen a lighthouse in a town before . Unfortunately it was closed like so many places at the moment. It's still worth visiting the town, all decked for Xmas, and the lovely sandy beach.

Jane T — Google review

The Southwold lighthouse you'll find is situated near the centre of the town and is surrounded by houses. It stands on the North Sea coast, acting as a warning light for shipping passing along the east coast and also as a guide for ships navigating into Southwold harbour.Construction started on it in 1887 and it officially opened in 1890 with a height of 31 metres. If you want you can enjoy a panoramic from the top of the lighthouse by pre booking a guided tour. On this tour on you will be taken on a behind the scenes trip learning about the history of this building and ultimately climbing the 113 steps to the top.

Villan C — Google review

Adnams have taken over the tours and do a first rate job. Well worth the visit. Choose a sunny day because the views are wonderful, but the story of how it was all worked is there to see. Really very interesting

Patrick K — Google review

I opted for the sunrise tour at 5.30am.Mother nature didn't deliver the quintessential sunrise however the views and tour was excellent.

Ian W — Google review

Visited the old southwold lighthouse and was captivated by its rich history and stunning views. The weathered charm adds character, and the knowledgeable guides provide fascinating insights. A must-visit for history enthusiasts and those seeking breathtaking coastal panoramas.

Mahadev S — Google review

Loved our tour Saturday 24th june. I can't remember our tour guide but he was good and explained everything in detail. The tour lasts about 1hr to 1.5 hrs.The steps may sound a lot but it's really not that bad to get to the top and once you're up there you get brilliant views all round.

Steve M — Google review

Unusual, inland lighthouse, no guided tour today, but a lovely ice-cream instead. Southwold is a lovely Suffolk town, well worth a visit, for the day, plenty to see and do.

Stephen C — Google review

Been going Southwold for 25 years and never done this - don't wait as long as me, it's a great experience. Guide Chris really brought it to life. Staircase is a bit scary.

Conor L — Google review

Absolutely loved the tour! The guide was fantastic, and the whole experience is great value for money. I was surprised that I found climbing the stairs far more scary than I anticipated!

Southwold is a lovely little seaside town, and even though it has some high street named shops, it has not lost its character. Best thing of all; there was a bakery selling home made gluten free bread/rolls/cakes. Plenty of cafes to choose from.

Southwold Pier is a Victorian pier in Southwold, Suffolk, which extends into the sea for 250 metres. The pier houses great sea-view restaurants and is a popular tourist attraction with families.

MThis was my 1st visit to Southwold Pier & beach & was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful it was. It was also very clean & rather popular with adults, families with small children & a lot of dog walkers. It was easily accessible with my mobility scooter as was the high street.

Donna H — Google review

Lovely little pier, such a shame the scaffolding was up. Kids love the dodgy arcade as most kids do but also loved the walk past the "hall of mirrors" not a hall, the mirrors are on the side of a building. Kids found it hilarious. They also enjoyed the under the sea arcade, something a little different.

Nikola W — Google review

A delightful and quaintly British tourist attraction. I visited on a very quiet day but imagine that it would be a very popular hotspot for holiday makers and day trippers. The whole pier appears well maintained and clean and the lack of noisy in your face amusem*nt arcades is a definite plus!

Aiden W — Google review

A great pier with a variety of things to do for all ages! The cafes and restaurants are welcoming, with friendly staff. The vintage arcade area is scary but fun, and gives a sense of excitement and individuality to the pier. The view from the end is lovely out to the sea and the clock tower is a great addition. Would recommend this beach to anyone!

Kye — Google review

Super pier with some wonderful little features from the superb cafe seating made from galvanised metal, super feature water clock and great amusem*nt arcade with out of this world and totally waking one off amusem*nts. Just visit and find out for your selves.

Spent a really lovely day at Southwold. Enjoyed the Pier with al its seaside charm. Had a very tasty lunch, (as you can see from the photos!) The restaurant on the end of the pier IS a must! Great food, perfectly cooked and very pleasant helpful staff! Loved it😁👍

Paul H — Google review

A good old fashioned seaside town. Nice beach and plenty of parking down by the pier. We'll worth a visit just to see the beach huts. A short walk into the town as well.

Paul R — Google review

Gorgeous little seaside area with fish and chips, tearooms, souvenirs and quirky games and mirrors. Really loved it and followed it up with a laze on the gorgeous sandy beach and a toe dip in the chilly north sea. Parking is £4.20 for the day just past the pier entrance.

O D — Google review

We love visiting the pier at Southwold. There is a lovely cafe on the pier to eat and the children love looking in the different mirrors! The views from the pier of the beach and Southwold are spectacular!

Laurence B — Google review

What a gem! Even though it was cold and raining had a lot of fun. Its good to be surprised and the under the pier show slot machines are a diamond in the rough! Otherwise, its quirky, you get a choice of a restaurant or cafe, whacky mirrors, sweets and interesting mechanical details that all made it a memorable visit.

Rich G — Google review

Lovely old pier still in good condition and free to walk along, with ice-cream parlours, slot machines, weird 'one off' games, gift shops and a great view up and down the coast. Dog friendly and safe for children.

Love this pier. The old fashioned amusem*nt arcade is brilliant. I decided to give Frankenstein a miss this time and put my hand in the fierce dog cage instead. Hilarious 😂. Loved the wall of mirrors, the niche gift shops and coffee shops. Even better that the weather was dry and warm. A good old fashioned seaside visit.

Beautiful beach with stunning pier and lots of parking nearby! Beach huts make a pretty sight either side of the pier lining the beach promenade. It’s a lovely beach to wander along and you can venture into the lovely town which has a good variety of shops, cafes and restaurants!

This is a great life to visit, I have visited on May occasions. I have had the pleasure of having a theatre dining experience at the restaurant. The food was lovely. I’ve been to the old fairground machines which was hilarious and so cheap. The fish and chip shop is one of the best in town! Just watch out for the cheeky seagulls!

Nice short pier in the affluent town of Southwold. There are places to eat, souvenir shop and a traditional arcade along the length of it.The end allows you to easily look back towards the sea front and town. It's just very nice. The restaurant is of a particularly high standard.

Went to see the mechanical displays. Looked old and worn out. Much smaller than expected. I watched others use the machines. The bowling alley was good value and fun solo . Had a go on pacman. Was a new machine with LCD screen. I prefer the old cry displays. The pier looks like it's falling apart and some of the food place were open but way overpriced. In fact the whole town is like that. Ready to take money from the old and rich. You can buy little plaques and have them mounted on pier. The pier is white bland and very boring.

Great little Pier. Lovely for some nice pictures. I just think that fish and chips are overpriced everywhere. It’s just chips and fish, but they charge £8 plus for the portion of chips and a only fish that will last nothing. Please, make cheaper - maybe £6 or £5. Big families will always think twice before spending £50 plus. My opinion only.Other than that the Piers is beautiful and the walk around is great.

Southwold Pier is a nostalgic haven of old-school family fun, boasting a unique array of attractions that will delight visitors of all ages. As you stroll along the pier, you're transported back in time to a bygone era of seaside charm and amusem*nt. From quirky arcade games to whimsical interactive exhibits, there's something here for everyone to enjoy. What sets Southwold Pier apart is its collection of unusual attractions that you won't find anywhere else. Whether it's the mesmerizing water clock, the thrilling Under the Pier Show with its eccentric creations, or the captivating vintage slot machines, each experience is a delightful surprise waiting to be discovered. But beyond the attractions, it's the sense of joy and wonder that permeates every corner of the pier that truly makes it special. Families laugh together, children's eyes light up with excitement, and memories are made that will last a lifetime. It's a place where time seems to stand still, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the simple pleasures of seaside entertainment. For a day of pure, unadulterated fun unlike anything you've ever experienced, look no further than Southwold Pier. It's a treasure trove of whimsy and wonder that will leave you longing to return again and again.

Great fun, with excellent café, restaurant, and gift shops. And don't miss the under the pier show - ingenious!

Nice place great views, typical British pier, fish and chips and an arcade, what more could you ask for. Can definitely recommend the alternative arcade on the pier full of weird and wonderful attractions great fun, would have been 5 stars but some of the pier was under repair. Completion in 2024

If you enjoy sea, sand and traditional seaside cafe food, then this is it. But being a 'local' for the last twenty years, I have to say that's even better once the holiday frenzy dies down. We timed our recent visit at the end of the afternoon as day visitors we're leaving & the B&B crowd were just getting over the shock of eating out; a friend with a beach hut had an open evening which was great. Treated ourselves to two huge scoops of ice cream each. Then, chilled, & away from the high street, queued for ten minutes just before the cafe on the pier closed. Not too pricey, decent sized fishcakes, & excellent chips. Enjoyed as the evening was drawing in & everyone was going home.

Absolutely love the beautiful stretch of white beach sand and the joy of everyone out and enjoying themselves. Children building sand castles, or perhaps the adults enjoying it just as much. Lovely shops and places to eat in the town and overall lovely and clean. To see the colourful beach huts that seem to go on forever. All well kept and a joy to see. Walk ways along the beach was so worth the walk and see the lovely views out into the sea. Next time will make a weekend of it.

Africa Alive Zoological Reserve is a vast wildlife hub featuring over 80 species such as lions, rhinos, and ostriches. The reserve has an African theme, making it a unique experience for visitors of all ages. While the restaurant only serves pizza and salads, there are other nearby dining options available. A mini-golf course is also present in the zoo for visitors to enjoy.

It opens at 9:30am and it was so nice to be one of the first in, the animals were pleased to see us, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Special mention of Harrison, who served us at the gate and later in the shop. A shame the Lions aren't here, would have been nice to see them laying around 🤣, but we were told they'd be back in May. Still plenty of animals to see and things to do. We'll be back.

Louise L — Google review

This was my first time ever visiting a zoo. It was an amazing experience. We had the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the animals there (not the lions, they were antisocial and slept most of the day). The kids who I saw visited were enjoying themselves petting some of the animals. I would definitely recommend families to visit here. I have a lot more photos but I uploaded the ones I still have on my phone.

We had a fantastic time at Africa Alive. From start to finish, it was amazing. The highlight was a Meerkat encounter, where we were looked after by Faye, an obvious animal lover who was very informative and made our experience extremely special. We're planning our next visit and can't wait to return. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Lovely spacious wildlife parkAnimals all have large enclosures, all look looked after and cared for.Easy access for wheelchairs and pushchairs. The paths are all gritted which can make pushing a manual wheelchair quite difficult and a very bumpy ride for those in mobility scooters with the solid wheels.Mobility scooters were available to hire also.Large cafe with the most friendliest staff in there. All very clean, very well looked after and great selection of food and drinks.Plenty of toilet blocks dotted around too.Keeper talks are very interesting.Would definitely return if I'm ever in the area.

Rebecca W — Google review

Went on 09.05.2022 week day so was very quiet, single carriageway from Norwich and got stuck behind a tractor.Large play area for children, you can watch them play whilst eating your lunch. Food is reasonably priced but you can bring your own. Toilets are clean and round the back of the cafe.Zebra train does have silent trips. Takes 15 mins to go around.Lots of walking involved as the animals have very large enclosures which is great.Board walk was a little boring as we didn't see any wildlife.Would recommend as there are different animals to Banham Zoo. The zebras, giraffes, rhinos, ostriches are all in one enclosure. Lonely cheetah and a pride 5 lions their own enclosures. We spent about 3.5 hours here and managed to see and do everything (even a train tour), daughter had a little play in the park. Mini golf is free.

Had a great experience. All exhibits open (June 22) Stood a few feet away from lions rhino and giraffes. Was amazing. Park layout is innovative and imaginative. Animals well cared for place is ace! Have the kids fill out the form and get a medal ! Good value for money.

Stuart C — Google review

Great day out. The talks we saw were informative and the staff are brilliant. The lemur enclosure was our favourite as you are in there with these amazing creatures. The only negative was that certain concession stands were closed and the jumping pillow in the play area wasn’t open. Having paid the peak season rates I would have expected the full offering to be available.Overall a great day and we will be returning in the future.

Good day out.Could have done with a map as Im not sure I saw everything.Lots of information boards for each animal that are easy to read. The zebra Land Train, was very popular.Cafe has outside seating overlooking a pond with water birds to watch. Relaxing.Lots of amusem*nts for kids.Plenty of toiletsWheelchair friendly. Will return.

Great zoo!I have a lot more pictures in the camera and will download once get chance. We had kids age ranging 13-1.They all enjoyed it there.Went there for Easter weekend.Only downfall is that the restaurant only serves pizza and Salads. My kids don’t like pizzas at all.So went to nearest McDonald’s for the meal. They have mini golf , Which kids really enjoyed. The weather was nice so all the animals were out.Giraffe, rhino, snakes, zebra, ostrich, buffalo, sheep, goats, cheetah, owls, parrots, flamingos , meerkats, hyenas are some of the animals we enjoyed.

Ramandeep K — Google review

It is a good place to spend a good couple of hours. The lion enclosure is brilliant, there is a viewing platform where you are able to see them clearer rather than through the fencing. The planes of Africa area enclosure is large and gives good example of how these animals would interact in the wild (although on a much smaller scale). It was an enjoyable morning, I would have loved to have seen the cheetahs but unfortunately the enclosure was having maintenance works, so they are not available to view.

Jenni B — Google review

This was sort of a hidden Gem. The entrance doesn't do it justice. Once you drive in the gates and right down to the car park you get a sense of the scale. You get very close to the animals, Such a variety. Kids loved it. The restaurant & Park was also great. Highly recommend.

Guy H — Google review

Went on a hot day so some of the animals were not very active.Kids enjoyed the bouncy pillow and digging in the sand.Zookeeper talks were good, without them day would have been quite short as not a big park.Ice creams seemed expensive.

Eve S — Google review

Great day out for all the family. Parking easy. Lovely cafe for hot drinks and a great selection of food. All animals looked well cared for and happy. Quite an unusual collection too. Huge inflatable pillow for the kids to play on while we had our paninis and coffee. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable, we watched a few of the feeding sessions and talks. Enjoyed our day out very much and was worth the entrance fee. We spent at least 6 hours here. The kids loved it.

Michelle A — Google review

Tickets was expensive for what it is. Alot of open space but not a bad thing really. Animals looked very happy, and well cared for. Only saw one keeper throughout the visit. Was happy to see a plated lizard as my brother had one as a pet when we was children and that made my day lol. Lady who scanned ticket in shop seemed down & slightly miserable. But either way enjoyed our hour or so walking round :)

Rachel M — Google review

Such a good day out!! We decided to visit after seeing the keepers on Instagram and it really lived up to it. We got a great deal and were able to visit both Africa Alive and Banham, two zoos for the price of one!It is a smaller park but there is still so much to do; keepers were so informative and friendly and we managed to spend the whole day there. We also booked a red river hog experience which was so much fun, theyre so cute and our keeper was so knowledgeable. Looking forward to seeing more content from the keepers, would love to see them on tiktok!

Africa Alive Zoological Reserve is a remarkable zoo that offers a diverse range of attractions. The layout is quite spacious and thoughtfully designed, featuring numerous intriguing features that make the visit truly enjoyable. You can expect to see a captivating array of animals, including lions, giraffes, zebras, and a variety of primates. The reptile exhibits are equally fascinating, housing a collection of reptiles from different corners of the globe. Bird enthusiasts will delight in the diverse bird species on display. When it comes to dining options, the cafe is a pleasant spot to grab a meal. Additionally, the park offers a plethora of different eateries scattered throughout its grounds, ensuring that there's something to satisfy every appetite. Moreover, there's a fantastic children's play area where young visitors can have a great time while parents take a break.Whenever I visit Norfolk on holiday, I make it a point to bring the kids to Africa Alive because we all derive so much enjoyment from it. I wholeheartedly recommend this zoo to anyone looking for a fun and educational experience. What's more, you'll find ample parking available, and the crowd levels are typically manageable, ensuring a stress-free visit.

Excellent zoo. Very spaced out so plenty to see and not lots of people as your spaced out. Animals of Africa although no elephants but you saw everything including the lions. Service at every stand was really good. Staff seemed happy. Not overpriced

Tracy D — Google review

This is probably a little unfair as a review, as it's winter in an African themed Zoo;Price☆☆☆☆☆- Were super reasonable, 21 quid for 2 adults probably the best out of all the zoos in the area, especially considering its variety of endangered animals.Guest Facilities☆☆☆- some were shut due to it being mid week/winter which is completely fair. Toilets were clean and standard. There is a restaurant, we didnt go in but looked fine. There seemed to be a lot of animal talks around the zoo, assumingly for busier periods, which again is fine. Bins were a little sparce, especially on the north side of the zoo.Education☆☆☆- Boards and reading information on every exhibit. Zoo keepers didn't really interact much which is neither here nor there really, but is nice when they do.Animals☆☆☆☆- I was actually super excited when i saw the amount of rare animals advertised, it definitely has the best collection of endangered and different animals in the area, and of any zoo i've visited so far. The only problem really was not being able to see the animals, mainly on the north side of the zoo. A lot of animals were in their sleeping enclosures (it being winter) some of them had windows you could see into, but the buffalos/deer species and lemur species did not have this. So there was a few empty habitats, which is to be expected since its winter, but more viewing areas would be great! The south side where the smaller animals are was very good though. The animals all looked healthy, a little tired maybe but again, it is VERY cold today. Habitats were all clean and reasonably large though.Accessibility ☆☆☆- I'm a part time wheelchair user. It was 98% accessible, the park is very flat so nice and easy to get around. Though a lot of grass that sometimes we wanted to cut across. Ramps for most viewing areas. Most of the north of the zoo is gravel pathways which were a little bumpy and uncomfortable. Viewing areas with doors were manual, as they usually are in zoos, so little assistance is needed with those.Overall, nice big zoo. My first time going, I believe we didn't get to see it at it's best due to it being winter, which is to be expected with animals that prefer the warmth. Loved the quirky selection of animals.Gift shop was good, not full of random crap like other zoos. Had a REALLY good selection of quality plushies (personal preference, but it's rare these days)Staff encountered were polite. Would recommend going in the summer :) 🦓🦏🦒

A great day out for the family and couples for a reasonable price. For me and my partner, we paid £16 (£8 a ticket each) due to the fact we are students. These were afternoon tickets, meaning you can enter the zoo from 2pm - 5pm. By having 3 hours at the park for £8 each, I would consider that pretty reasonably priced. The park itself is very spacious and has many animals to look at. The animals all look very well cared for and have some amazing, large habitats that they can roam around in. My favourite animal at the park would have to be the giraffes or the lions. On site, it would be better if they could have more food stalls open on these afternoon tickets as the only place to buy food and drink was right at the front of the park as all other stalls were closed. Toilets at times were also pretty dirty, but lots available throughout the park. Gift shop is stocked with some nice souvenirs and toys for kids and the staff here are all very friendly and helpful. If you’re looking for a zoo and having a nice fun day out, I would recommend Africa Alive.

I love this zoo! Staff are pleasant and friendly, the animals are very responsive to their names if you call them (particularly the rhinos!) and there are lots of different animals on show and to see!The sheep in the lemur enclosure were very friendly and you could even stoke them!Lots to see!Animals look like they are well looked after and the keepers really care about the animals they are looking after as there is lots of environmental enrichment to keep the animals entertained and make them work for the food like in the wild.Lovely zoo!

What a brilliant place :-) All animals look lovely and healthy. Enclosures are kept clean and spacious. Zoo keepers are friendly. Facilities and playground are very nice. We as a family spend all day there :-)

Perfect day out for little ones. We were visiting yarmouth for the weekend. Parking is easy, easy to find the place, lots of choice of things to eat and drink. Took our 2 year old he loved exploring and pointing at animals. All the animals seemed happy and relaxed. I haven't been since I was a child, so taking my son was a nice way to return. Relatively inexpensive compared to other zoos. Would recommend taking wellie boots if its rained.

The skydiving experience at UK Parachuting was incredible. It wasn't just about the jump itself, but also the people and the overall atmosphere, which were fantastic. Tim Porter provided an unforgettable experience, while Pip Mike captured excellent video and photo footage. The entire team was friendly and made everyone feel welcome. I highly recommend this center to anyone who has the courage to take on a thrilling jump.

My dad done a skydive here last week and loved it. The whole team was amazing from start to finish. The 2 hour drive was well worth it, Got to see him gear up, take off in the plane and land. My dad is looking forward to booking another one again soon and my husband will be doing it to. 100% reccommend.

Booked this Tandem skydiving experience for my mums 40th Birthday. Was feeling extremely nervous before coming but was welcomed with warm hands by the team. We checked in through the main office and were called by the instructor for some training and kit wearing. The instructor Yo (Yolande) made my mum feel so special and kept her safe at all costs. This was an amazing experience and my mum was so pleased she even stated that she wanted to do it again. We managed to get the skydive recorded as a package of video and stills and honestly this is the best decision we could have gone for. So nice to have lovely memories to fall back on. Was also really pleased with the quality of them and the speed we received them in as we were told we'd recieve the footage after 24-72 hrs but received them within 2 hrs of the skydive taking place. Such an amazing experience, would definitely recommend to others. Massive shout out to Yolande, such a sweet person, was stunned by the amount of jumps she's done in the years, 11,000 jumps is a world breaking record she should be really impressed with. As a person whose traveled from far for this skydive, this won't be the last time coming back here. Thank you so much UK Parachuting team for making this jump for my mum special ❤

From start to finish, everyone from the reception staff to the, instructors, camera crew, ground team and all others involved were amazing. There is also a super little cafe bar with a roof terrace where you can relax and chill with a beer or coffee after your experience or simply watch other jumpers come floating in from above. Top marks all round. 💯🤟🤙👌👊👏🪂

Skydiving was never something I thought I would have the courage to do, but when I was offered a charity jump in support of the Mental Health Foundation I thought it's time to face your fears and go for it! And I'm SO GLAD I did, it was by far one of the best experiences of my life. Steve was my life support (ha!), and made me feel at ease right away. He kept reassuring me and talking to me to keep my mind occupied so I didn't have time to worry! I felt safe the whole time and from the photos I appear to have been smiling a lot and having a good time. The whole process was excellent, the admin team were super helpful beforehand when I had some questions, and the running of the day was seamless. Thank you so much, I will be back!

Gorleston-on-Sea is a stunning coastal beach located in the south of Great Yarmouth. The beach is well known for its wide sandy shore, picturesque riverbank, and its own harbour. Activities such as bodyboarding, surfing and windsurfing can be enjoyed close to the beach while enjoying the tranquility of Gorleston-on-Sea itself.

I adore this place. The beach is clean and sandy, and the sea air lifts the soul! The surrounding area is not like Yarmouth with lots to do, so it won't appeal to everyone. But that is reason alone for it to appeal to some. The space around the beach is plentiful, with a park for the children, a boating lake and a hilltop golf club (for members). There are a few cafes and restaurants, a few hotels and some very small arcades.Inland, it's a small town with the usual facilities and shops, not really seasidy, meant for residents.Hope this helps.

Exceptional Beach. This has to be one of the best beaches I have visited. It was very clean, the sand quality is very good. There are free public toilets, very good restaurants and an excellent ice cream parlour around the beach as well. Dogs are only allowed on the beach at certain times (non-peak) so if you have a dog I would check the times, this is good because it keeps the beach cleaner. There is a free splash pad that is brilliant! All you have to do is hope for the British weather. Highly recommended!!!

A person's experience of a beach is largely affect by the prevailing weather. Fortunately for me, the weather has been absolutely superb in this corner of the Norfolk coast. The beach itself is lovely with a wide sandy section which becomes more pebbly as you approach the low tide mark. It was a hot day but made to feel very pleasant by the cool onshore breeze.

Wonderful place to sunbathe, enjoy a refreshing swim as the water doesn't retreat as much compared to other beaches. Really great spot since it's close to many restaurants, pubs, shops, parking, etc.The water is very clean, a bit cold even when temps are above 25 degrees on full sunny days. The overall beach is amazing, it's very sandy, however it is very rocky and has a lot of small stones/ pebbles closer to the water.

Superb beach and surroundings. Loads of stuff to do, from walking, sun bathing or even staying with your little one at the splash zone.Great choice of restaurants and bars to enjoy throughout the area.Loads of parking available at the pier parking. The beach is very sandy, however when getting closer to the water-line it gets a bit rocky and has loads of pebbles and stones. If you are a bit more sensitive when walking on rocky/pebbles, definitely recommend getting some water shoes.Water is quite wavy but at the same time it is lovely. It is a bit cold, even when outside there's 26 degrees for 2 straight days.

Really beautiful quiet beach. The car parking is free and the beach can be accessed easily by walking down a sloped path. I am a mobility scooter user and was able to drive all the way down to a small set of steps that go directly onto the sand. The dog loved it, and the kids paddled in the sea. Lots of lovely little beach huts lining the promenade make it very picturesque. There was an ice cream van and a small cafe near the car park. Definitely a good place to visit if you don't want all the hustle and bustle of Great Yarmouth.

We had a fun day at the beach, which is nice and sandy for digging if you sit towards the back. It’s a good beach for swimming in, and plenty of people were paddle boarding, kayaking and more too. Even though there were a lot of people there it didn’t feel crowded. We didn’t have trouble parking as we arrived early but when we left, the beach front parking was full, with cars waiting for spaces so be aware of that before visiting. There are public toilets next to the beach, pubs, cafes and fish and chips. Even a small amusem*nt arcade. This was our first time visiting Gorleston beach but I don’t think it will be our last. We had a really good time here!

This is a gen of a place. Easy parking, lots of facilities - toilets, shops, food - and you can go cheap and cheerful or rather nice within meters. It has a long promenade to look down on the sea from - interest from large boats coming into the neighbouring harbour and so much sandy beach - good sandcastle making sand.It has some downsides - the benches on the front are dedicated to dead people - quite standard these days, but people put flowers on them! I don't feel right sitting on Doris's bench when it's a living tribute! And it is a place of past grandeur rather than contemporary brilliance, but sometimes you need a decent beach a, a loo, chips and something to look at. Tick tick tick.

Amusem*nt park

Water & Amusem*nt Parks

Theme park

The Pleasure Beach, Great Yarmouth is a loud and colourful amusem*nt park with a mix of rides and activities. The site spans nine acres and includes 28 adrenaline-pumping rides as well as traditional attractions like a 1932 wooden roller coaster. This is the perfect place to take the kids for a day out!

Where can I start this park is AMAZING! What a great value 3 hours costing only £15 we managed many rides and had so much fun. 3 hours was quite rushed so an extra hour would be nice but £15 Isn’t too bad for how many rides we managed.I would recommend coming for Lightning 360 and pendulum which are both amazing!

ThemeParkJaden — Google review

A true British seaside. Great selection of rides which has moved with the times and has lots of new additions. Past family favourites have been well looked after for families to enjoy year after year. The wooden roller coaster is a must and of course the carousel. This year the entry has changed. No more wristbands or tokens. A simple payment of £15 per person for entry (even if you aren't going on any rides) this then gets you on every ride which i feel is better value. You then get to enjoy the park for 4hrs (10-2) or 2:45-6-45. Hardly and queuing and the whole pleasure Beach was so much calmer and felt less crowded even during a Bank holiday in the half term! Huge improvement which really makes such a difference! Had a great day and had some yummy food too which was also reasonably priced and delicious. Cant wait to visit again!

Lovely, clean beach. Nice combination of pebbles and sand. Lots of beautiful rocks and good variety of shells which gave the kids a couple of hours fun. Some places were closed down. We were happy to find halal places to eat nearby. Parking charges weren't too bad, we paid £5 for 4 hours.

Faa — Google review

Really loved this little park, obviously don't expect anything on the level of other major UK parks, as that's not what this place is about, it's just generally great fun! Although it may be annoying to people who just want to spectate, I found £15 was quite reasonable for unlimited rides (if you consider this is more than half the price of other UK theme parks), and the queues were short so we got on lots. The highlights were diffinetely the roller coaster which is great fun and surprisingly fast if you sit at the back and the new ride pendulum which was fantastic! Staff were very friendly also.

Matthew — Google review

Had a lovely time here and they have a decent system. Tickets are £15 for a 3 hour time slot which allows you unlimited access to the rides/attractions. My 9 year old in particular loved it, especially being able to go on the caterpillar as many times as she wanted. I really enjoyed multiple goes on the rollercoaster! The hot donuts in the stall by the entrance were also to die for. There are some interesting looking food places including one that does 'loaded fries' but we didn't get to try it out on this occasion. All in all, great value and a good time had. Recommended!

Jassen P — Google review

Had a really good time I had my 2.5 year old a 5 year old a 6 year old 4 year old and a 9 year old and all of them loved it. My only grumble is the 3 hour slots.. the ques for certain rides was so long we didn't get a chance to go on it before closing. COVID is done now I don't understand why it's still in time slots. Very frustrating.

Robyn Y — Google review

Ok, so, we thought about pre booking for the ride credits, but we didn't and it seemed to be the same price anyway. We went to the booth at the entrance and ordered a card each, 5 credits for each of the 2 adults and 10 credits for our child. It wasn't explained to us that we could have just got one card (we think). Cards can be topped up with ride credits inside the park, fairly easily, at the cash point style machines.Positive - loads to do, plenty of rides to choose from and the first thing we made a bee line for was the very popular, historical roller coaster...warning - it's 5 credits each (basically £5, £15 for the 3 of us) and whilst it was really enjoyable and lasted quite a while, we felt this was really pricey. Some of the rides are 2 credits, some 3, some 4, depending on the thrill factor and age they're designed for I guess.£4 for hook a duck?? We decided that was pushing it seeing as we topped up the credits after our first ride, otherwise we literally couldn't have gone on any more rides with our child after the first big spend! Some really good rides, we had a lovely time, plenty to do, friendly staff and souvenirs were inexpensive. We daren't look at food - we left before we got hungry!Looked at the upside down house - waaay too pricey for the 3 of us.We loved it all though and completely understand that the rise in costs must have affected these places too.

O D — Google review

We had a great day here, we got on all the rides quickly and absolutely loved the milkshakes. My only issue is there is a lot of fairground type rides it would be nice to see a little bit more. The rollercoaster was amazing though because of the small queues we rode 4 times.

Lizzie H — Google review

We booked a family ticket a few weeks ago and had a blast! Barely queued for anything, all the staff were friendly and I felt that it was really good value for money. You really should book in advance otherwise you may be left disappointed. Will absolutely be going again!

Graeme S — Google review

Love pleasure beech, been coming here for a while now. Great friendly staff. The new wrist band entry is a good idea and cheaper if booked in advanced. Shame the water ride is gone hopefully it will get replaced with another water ride.

Grant B — Google review

We visited yesterday and had a fabulous time. It exceeded all my expectations. There's a ride for everyone. It's great value for money, and food is reasonably priced. Top of my list were the staff. Well trained and observant. I felt very safe in their hands.

Tracy L — Google review

It was a wonderful experience with my family and friends. The rides are great and some are scary. The seaside is also a great view and there are lots of great places to get food and drinks. I’d recommend getting tickets online or paying online to save yourself from the queue especially on holidays or weekends.

Jewel I — Google review

As always, a great time for my daughters birthday outing. Reliable rides, a good selection for all ages and history that goes back to the 1930's.

Alex H — Google review

Have a season pass, go every day in the holidays and its really good, however it is very expensive to buy food so i would recommend going to the Morrisons around the corner. Some good rides such as pendulum and the iconic rollercoaster but needs to be updated a bit more

Tj J — Google review

Was the last night of the season. Fright night there were actors running around scaring people. The wooden roller coaster is very good in the dark a good selection of rides and the walk through attraction was good .food expensive but that's what you expect

MR A — Google review

Have been coming for years and always have a great time, came back today after many years and although we did have a wonderful day some staff don’t take ride safety very seriously. Whilst riding the twister the lap bar came unlatched-luckily due to the fast speed of the ride there was minimal chance of us coming out however when we mentioned it to the staff one of the men had tried to tell us that didn’t happen, the second one then made a comment saying it wasn’t the first time it had happened today. However there were no safety protocol, after we had gotten off they were boarding people onto the same seats that came undone whilst riding. If it were a smaller child they could’ve come flying off and seriously injured themselves!!

Abbey C — Google review

My son and I went to Great Yarmouth pleasure beach for the day. We had such a fantastic time. I bought a £25 wrist band for my son so he could experience all the rides he was interested in. The good thing about this you are allowed to leave the pleasure park as many time as you want and come back in hassle free. My son enjoyed all the rides. The food was really good too. We spent alot of money in the arcades. The weather was beautiful which made our day even better. When you venture outside along the pier they are streets acts which was fun to watch. Also there is a jurassic world there for younger kids to enjoy. Wednesday Thursday and Saturday there is street acts and fireworks at 10pm. We will definitely go back to Great Yarmouth again 👍

Gloria T — Google review

The best fun fair i have been. Great for kids of all ages especially younger ones. My daughter is 5 years old and there was too many things for this age group. Cant wait to go in the summer again.

lauramarziali1 — Google review

Really enjoyed the trip here, reasonable prices and a good selection of rides for the size of the park.Really liked that the kids could get wristbands while us adults could just get cards and pay for what we wanted. The only thing it needs is a covered area for us adults to sit down and have a brew while the kids crack on.

Shoot M — Google review

We visited today after a few years away but we can confirm it's still a great day out. We purchased a wrist band for unlimited rides and got more than our moneys worth. The queues were really quick and we managed to get on everything at least twice. The food wasn't too badly priced either and was really good for theme park food. There was plenty for a 3 Yr old to go on and the older ones loved it too.

A model village with miniature versions of a theatre, castle, stadium, houses, cricket pitch, holiday, a church and mansion. It has an interactive feature in the Merrivale Garden and the Majestic Theatre exhibits rare detail in each scene. There is also a travelling fair and sports stadium.

Really enjoyed our visit... 42 years after my last visit! Well kept gardens, magical displays and check out the vintage arcade games at the end... all in pristine condition. Lovely tea shop and free crazy golf all for under £10.... oh and you can return as many times as you wish for 7 days from your first visit... highly recommend.

Sue R — Google review

August 2022- We always visit here on our holiday. Its such a lovely sight see. The models are always so good. The maintenance of the flowers and scenery. My 1year old loved all the beautiful colours. The staff are always friendly. When you purchase a ticket, you get to go back for free another day (only valid for a few days).I will say, the photo they take at the start.. the quality isn't the best, ours was so blurry.

Shazam — Google review

Absolutely amazing.Ages since I've been to a model village and loved it.Dog could come with us as was fascinated with the trains. So many hidden Easter Eggs and seaside postcard references.Plus ticket lasts for a week if you want to come back.

Chris H — Google review

Loved it here! Dog friendly which is really helpful when away on holiday. The buildings had funny names and it was entertaining walking around reading them. I love that they even decorate inside the buildings, so you can look through the windows! Highly recommend. There’s also a little golf thing in there but we didn’t use that. The tickets are for more than one entry if you can show ID to prove your name on your ticket and your ticket even gets you money off on the treat/sweet shop next door!

Bex S — Google review

Great for all ages and plenty to see and do. Look out for the small details in many of the exhibits. It also allows reentry this evening and all week and also has a small crazy golf course and an old penny arcade, shop and tea room

Ian H — Google review

Smashing model Village, lots to see (currently undergoing a refurbishment/upgrade, but not noticeable during opening hours). Nice couple of hours walk round for under a tenner. Small( free )crazy golf included in price. Lots of interactive buttons to press that move the models. Model train runs through the whole park. Cafe and gift shop on exit, and a working exhibition of old slot machines and arcade games, which was delightful. Recommended.

Andy P — Google review

Reasonable entry prices and tickets are valid for 7 days after. Thoroughly enjoyed walking around the place. Models are detailed and also has a train track running through. Definitely recommend and suitable for all ages.

Harjinder K — Google review

Great place for old and young pay on one day and get a free entry to go back so go on a Monday and revisit on a Friday.Mini golf included which kept the little ones busy while I had a sit down.Great models and lots of time taken making the replica buildings, look out for the Banksy replica as original was sold for a lot of money.

Lianne O — Google review

Lovely day out. Free mini golf. Lots of interesting little houses/scenes to look at, some interactive. Make sure you have some 20p's to feed the fish. There's even a vintage arcade after the exit.

Cally P — Google review

A fantastic model village with some funny little scenes and semi hidden items within the village. There are action/talking buttons throughout the village. The grounds are wheelchair accessible but beware if you have an over wide chair or a heavy occupant. Some of the turns can be tight and the humps a little challenging. Whilst the village is lovely there is also crazy golf, a photo opportunity to have yourself posed in the village, a gift shop, a dog friendly tea shop and my very favourite thing a penny arcade that reminded me of my dad winning items on an old fashioned crane machine, when I was a little girl. Thoroughly recommend a visit here. There's plenty of old pennies available to play o the penny machines.

Nat. ( — Google review

Lovely spot, plenty to look at. My partner and I found it the most humorous model village we have visited, make sure to look through windows and pay attention to the business names as you walk around. They also have mini golf which we didn't have chance to do but would like to next time and the penny arcade is a great addition.2 adults and 2 young children all enjoyed our visit.

Sunshine D — Google review

It's a must visit.......loved it, so well maintained, lots of clever little funny touches to some of the scene's. .worth the money, a great suprize at the end with a nostalgic slot penny room to play in. Great coffee and gift shop. I really recommend this place we had a great few hours here.

Maxine C — Google review

Brilliant models, take your time to look at all the funny stories that have been made with the figures!Old fashioned arcade at the end.Beautiful flowers all around with fish in the pond!

Zoe W — Google review

Visited on quite a hot day. Went round at a leisurely pace with buttons to press and trains to follow it was a lovely little haven on the seafront. Gardens were very well kept and we enjoyed the mini golf at the end. Only sad thing to see is there isn't enough footfall for it or any other places to be open late on the seafront anymore, aside from one eve a week when fireworks are on. You can currently use purchased tickets to return for a free visit.Great to view it at dusk! Thank you.

Sara M — Google review

A brilliant place to visit for all ages. Very reasonable entry price. Beautifully maintained with nice added touches such as name plaques for the plants in the gardens. So nice to be able to leave the village to go and have lunch at the cafe (very nice food) and then to be able to return. The children loved the crazy golf. A great couple of hours spent here.

Mary J — Google review

It was great they had some easter activities for the kids daughter loved the inhouse mini golf remember to bring some change as you can feed the fish and had a few driving games for a pound we loved looking at all the models it was entertaining for kids and adults with lots of buttons to push at the end they had a little arcade with old and new games which were great fun

Lorna A — Google review

Fabulous place to visit!!Cost us £5.99 x2 senior citizens, £9.99 for an adult, its also dog friendly and they got in for free. This also included the mini golf in the price which was a lot of fun. You can also return for free within a week when you keep your receipts which is a great idea. The guy on the admission desk was super friendly and helpful :)The paths are all flat and it was wide enough for a small mobility scooter to get around the whole place which we were so grateful for as it meant we all got to have a day out together even with the dogs!We thought it was amazing to look at all the different buildings and models- some gave you a good laugh. There was lots of interactive buttons which gave commentary or moved sculptures around. We also enjoyed feeding the beautiful fish for 20p, driving the car and boats for £1 each turn too. They also had toilets on site which were lovely and clean, a gift shop and a penny arcade. Great facilities and a fab place to visit if you are in the area- 10/10 reccomend for the whole family.

This place was really good. I had not been since I was a young girl. Paid at the door and you can use your ticket for a week. The old penny arcade was fun. Lovely gift shop and a place to eat. A crazy golf course. Young kids will love it.

Great place with lots to do, from the actual village to the Arcade and the mini golf. There were RC cars and boats too!The detail was great and it was well looked after. The only thing I'd say is we weren't told about the displays with sound on them, so look out for those when you visit.Great value for money.

Aquarium

Nature & Parks

SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth is a family-friendly aquarium with exhibits featuring an extensive array of marine creatures. The attraction offers play areas and group packages.

We were totally out of season ( mid-January) so it was a bit grim outside !!! But not so here. Brilliant. We were made very welcome, staff were friendly and informative. There were very few tourist's so absolutely all the tanks could be viewed easily, as could all the information boards. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and tidy - despite there being building work going on. We stayed for a couple of talks, and the shark feeding, which were great. Staff constantly walking round, asking questions, giving information and offering snippets of advice as to where to look etc. We used a voucher, so paid £20 for the two of us. Excellent value. Parking directly outside (free between Oct - March), new toilet facilities, and a well stocked cafe with Costa coffee.

Polly W — Google review

Great place to visit, lots of different sea creatures to see. Penguins were an added bonus we were not expecting to see.The children absolutely loved it.Only scoring 4, because I feel the entrance price is a bit high and the cafe was closed for maintenance.

Rachel L — Google review

I recently visited SEA LIFE: Great Yarmouth with high expectations, having visited several other SEA LIFE aquariums around Europe. As someone who understands the importance of educating others about fish and their conservation, I was eager to explore this venue. However, my experience at Great Yarmouth left me bitterly disappointed. My disappointment began right at the reception, where I stated clearly that I needed two concession tickets. Initially, I was quoted a price of forty pounds, which seemed excessive. After repeating myself, the price was reduced to twenty pounds. The inconsistency and the initial high price left a sour taste in my mouth, as it did not reflect the value of our visit.Once inside, we were excited to see the different species and learn more about them. However, right from the beginning, I was asked to pose in front of a green screen twice, with the flash going off despite the signs clearly stating that flash photography was not allowed. This lack of adherence to the rules was disappointing, especially emphasised respecting the marine environment.Furthermore, the venue felt cramped, not due to the number of visitors but because of the excessive presence of buggies. We constantly had to wait and navigate around parents pushing empty strollers, causing unnecessary queues. This layout issue was particularly frustrating, especially considering the venue's small size. While I understand the necessity of wheelchairs, the presence of buggies poses challenges, particularly for individuals who are autistic.Adding to the disappointment, many fish tanks were dirty, making it difficult to see or photograph the fish effectively. While it's understandable that fish naturally create dirt, the lack of visibility and the brown, muddy water in the penguin tank was particularly discouraging. There were no signs informing customers about the breeding season or the potential discomfort of the penguins, leaving visitors uninformed and perplexed. Moreover, I observed some fish exhibiting signs of distress, swimming aimlessly with little to no stimulation. Witnessing their plight made me increasingly uncomfortable being at the venue. My partner kindly paid for the visit, knowing my passion for fish and photography, but I have offered to reimburse him due to the overall disappointment of the trip.It is important to note that not all SEA LIFE aquariums are like this. The ones in Malaga and London, for example, serve as stellar examples of how such venues should be run. In comparison, SEA LIFE: Great Yarmouth felt like a poor excuse for an aquarium, leaving me thoroughly disgusted.I have awarded two stars to this venue primarily because of my familiarity with the brand and the visually appealing shops, albeit with steep prices. Additionally, I must commend the captivating Medusa statue and the enjoyable experience in a specific room, free from the disturbances caused by the constant stream of buggies. In summary, my visit to SEA LIFE: Great Yarmouth fell far below my expectations. The initial pricing confusion, the disregard for flash photography rules, the cramped layout due to unnecessary buggies, the dirty fish tanks, and the distressing fish behaviour collectively contributed to a disappointing experience. I sincerely hope that improvements are made to ensure that future visitors can enjoy a more engaging and authentic marine life encounter.

Absolutely fantastic. My family and I really enjoyed seeing all the different creatures and learning about them. The ants were a big surprise. The staff were wonderful, happy to help in any way, and answered all of our questions fully with enthusiasm. We spent 3+hours and could happily spent more time. The gift shop was great too, lots to chose from

Monique S — Google review

Sea Life is always a really beautiful experience! The creatures to be seen there are incredible and the venue itself is set out really well. It was easy to walk around and enjoy, even though it was quite a busy day. The 360 tunnel is amazing and definitely the highlight! It could be said that the ticket admission cost is expensive given that fact- however when you consider the cost of running such a place and caring for these incredible creatures, I think the price is probably necessary and it was definitely an experience my children will treasure.

Colin B — Google review

A lovely place to take young children! I would say it is really expensive (even pre booking was about £70 for a family of 4) so we wouldn't go again. It only takes about 30 minutes to walk around so definitely take your time and if you get to the shark tunnel, go back and enjoy everything again before leaving- we spend about an hour in there but couldn't of really spent any longer. Having said that, there is lots to see and lots to learn!

Lana B — Google review

Absolutely lovely place to go for a day out. Lots to see, loads of information to read but also just nice to walk around and look at the animals if you don't want to stop and read everything. Little cafe at the end that you can find via the gift shop. Staff were all really lovely and friendly. My only issue is that everything (tickets, gift shop, cafe) were all very pricey and that a couple of tanks seemed very over crowded.

Nathan D — Google review

Lovely place all the staff were really friendly, I went for my birthday, I got to feed the mullet in the yellow submarine tank, I had a lovely chat with some of the staff about the fish and the other creatures, I got to witness a thornback ray give birth and to touch some starfish! Was very enjoyable, they have a large gift shop and a cafe on site. Also got to see my favourite fish the red tailed catfish :)

David B — Google review

Solid day out! We arrived for our 12:00 booking time and were in within seconds. I didn't catch the name of any of the staff who aided us but were all great. Really helpful gent on the front desk who just had a positive glow about him. Super cool lady who was a giggle where we got to touch a starfish! And finally the lady who served us in the gift shop was super polite.I've seen a few comments about the price of entry but something to bare in mind is, you can round as many times as you want. We first went round at 12:00, finished and went to go get a bite to eat. Came back at 14:00 and done it again. The gent that welcomed us in during the morning even recognised us and got us in quickly again without us having to fumble for tickets. Can't wait for the cafe to be open on site so I can come back and try it!As mentioned earlier, I didn't get the names of any staff, but all on shift yesterday (26/03/22) were amazing and deserve the recognitionFinally. There's a massive Sea Turtle! That's justification to check the place out enough!

Joseph B — Google review

We enjoyed walking around and seeing all the fish. Unfortunately the soft play wad closed. There was a really nice girl (with awesome bright pink hair!) Who let my children touch various things such as a starfish. They loved it!

Hannah S — Google review

Lovely place to take the children. We went when there was a huge discount which I was glad about, I find it quite expensive at other times. Usually get round it in 1 hour, but it's good that you can go back around multiple times throughout the day. The cafe seemed ok but I don't like the rule that you can only eat and drink things from there when using the tables. When trying to manage 2 very fussy children and get something to eat myself, it is not easy as there wasn't a great deal of choice.

Delphean O — Google review

Fantastic place to visit with kids while on holiday. It takes about an hour to walk through and see everything.Very much overpriced so always make sure you buy half price tickets with Carex or Kellogg's to get a more reasonable price for what you get.Nearby parking is absolutely extortionate so beware.

James S — Google review

Lovely welcome, then a photo is taken which yo can purchase at the end. Beautiful sea life, and information spotted around. Love the underwater tunnel and Atlantis theme. It was busy as was school holidays but well worth the money. There is a shop and cafe at the end.

Kitcatz C — Google review

This was a lovely activity to do on our holiday, there is loads to see and even touch! We got to feed the fish and have the sharks and turtle swim above us! The toilets were nice and clean the cafe was lovely and there is an amazing and not too expensive gift shop at the end.

Amazing place for a day out with the family, my toddler loved this amazing experience. We admired the view from up and it definitely worth it to try it. Lots of amusem*nt places for children and adults, I will return soon to repeat the experience.

Nicoleta G — Google review

As a family of four (children 18months and 6yrs) we all enjoyed it here. This is probably the best one we have been to. We were expecting it to be packed as we visited whilst on holiday in August but although there were crowds there, it didn't feel too busy. We bought a deal with another local attraction so with the money we saved we bought the children an activity pack to complete whilst there. We had to go round twice as we had missed things. We spent approx 1h30m in there which would have been quicker were it not for the activity packs (which were well worth their money). Overall we had a great time. We didn't visit the cafe so can't comment on prices or quality of food. Staff were friendly, helpful and informative.

Sammy C — Google review

Really nice Sea life centre, was quiet when I went on a week day and it us November. Knowledgeable staff and they do special talks. Good selection of fish to look at and they have penguins too.

Tracey J — Google review

Came today for the first time. Staff were all friendly and welcoming. Place was clean and litter free. All the animals looked healthy and well looked after.I've been to the one in Hunstanton but this was the first time I took both my toddlers. They loved it, fed the fish, touched a starfish, met some bugs, and saw the penguins fed, all for less than £20!Had this been closer I'd of visited more often but definitely deserving of a 5* review.

Sea life is amazing. Lots of animals to see and great displays. Can spend lots of hours here and great location being on the beach

The sea life centre isn't big but it is enough to catch your interest and is big enough for children to be interested in it. The staff are super super friendly and knowledgeable. We went in April time and it wasn't busy at all. I wouldn't mind working there myself. Overall I'd give it a 7/10 mainly due to the size.

Specialty Museums

The Time and Tide Museum showcases the towns maritime history from its Ice Age origins to the present day. The museum features historic Victorian row houses that have been rebuilt, as well as a 1950s fish wharf scene.

I have been here several times over the years, my late Father loved it, having schooled in Great Yarmouth in the 40's and he liked to visit once per year if he could. It is a fantastic insight into our local history. Whether you're local or visiting, this is a must. If you haven't been, you should!

The Time and Tide Museum in Great Yarmouth provides a fascinating look at the area's history, from prehistoric times through to the present day. The exhibits are detailed and engaging, offering a mix of artefacts and interactive elements that appeal to visitors of all ages.A notable aspect is the museum's accessibility. My parents, who have limited mobility, found it easy to navigate thanks to the ramps and lifts throughout the building. This thoughtful design made it possible for us to explore the entire museum without any difficulty.Overall, the Time and Tide Museum is a brilliant place to discover history, with the added benefit of being accessible to everyone. If you're in Great Yarmouth and interested in learning about the area's rich past in a welcoming environment, this museum is a must-visit.

So much to see with well laid out displays. It really gave a great insight into Gt Yarmouth and the Herring industry and then later the Oil Exploration boom in the 70's. Well worth the admission price. I think kids could spend at least a couple of hours there exploring.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good this little museum was. The reconstruction of the street is impressive and engaging and you will learn a lot about herring during your visit! We were fortunate to catch the retro games exhibition just before its run ended and that was well put together. Also worth noting that the staff here were very friendly and helpful.

🎉 My partner and I had an adventure today at the Time and Tide Museum of Great Yarmouth! 🏛️ Upon entering, I mentioned that I qualified for a concession ticket as a carer, but we were charged for two. 😕 Thankfully, after explaining the situation and referencing my online research that stated carers enter for free, the issue was resolved. We were handed a leaflet and a map to guide us through our journey. The staff mentioned that the museum was much larger than it appeared, and off we went! 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️Let me start by saying that this museum is jam-packed with interesting things. 🤩 However, I must admit that it didn't quite capture my attention as much as I had hoped. 😔 It just wasn't my cup of tea, you know? While certain rooms did manage to grab my interest at times, overall, I felt like the museum lacked cohesion and each room seemed disconnected from the next. It was like jumping from discussing the herring industry and its growth to playing an ancient Roman game, then suddenly shifting focus to historical fashion, fishing nets, retro games, and even artifacts from a museum that closed down in the 1700s! 🐟🎮👗On the positive side, I appreciated the museum's efforts to ensure accessibility. All the rooms were wheelchair-friendly, and there was a lift to access different floors. 🦽 Although I found the lift a bit peculiar with its ten buttons, which could be confusing for people with disabilities. Additionally, there were some strong herring smells in the smoke rooms, but it did add a unique touch to the experience. 😄 I was glad to see that they had a multi-sensory room available for those who needed it. 🌈Overall, I found the museum to be a bit of a mixed bag. I couldn't quite grasp the connection between some of the exhibits and rooms. However, I did come across information that the museum is celebrating its 20th anniversary next year in 2024, and they have plans to adapt to the needs of today's audience. 🎉 I believe witnessing those changes will be truly awesome! 💪

Well worth a visit. Fascinating and family friendly. Great for a rainy afternoon in Great Yarmouth. Good to support the museum.

Amazing museum. The recreation of the Rows - historic narrow streets - is terrific. Very detailed history of the herring and shrimp fishing industry (surprisingly interesting!). Plus the general history of Great Yarmouth. Lots of places to sit down as you go round, good activities for children (and adults!!) e.g. dressing up stuff). We spent 3 hours there!!

Colin R — Google review

Loved this museum very interesting loved how they showed the fishing industry and how they hung the fish up in the building in columns and smoked the fish , loved the walk down the old street to see how they lived, many more interesting historical stuff in there .

Glenda S — Google review

Nice place to visit, but not going to lie - the retro gaming exhibition was the bit that caught my interest!Staff were nice and friendly and there is sort of a route to follow round the museum (as opposed to one where you go where ever you like!)There was a few hands on type things for the little people (a fishing game / sailing a fishing ship / fancy dress etc.)On the way out (or in!) there is also a little gift shop and also a cafe.If you pop to the museum at the moment there is a retro gaming exhibition with some packman, sonic and Mario games to play - along with some old school consoles to reminise at!

Andrew C — Google review

This was a good insight into how local fishermen lived and worked in years gone by. There also some coins, bracelets etc found by archiologists. Some crockery etc from the Titanic along with some of its history.Worth the entry fee and it took nearly 2 hours to go around looking at everything.

Linda L — Google review

Absolutely OUTSTANDING! We went as a school visit and Clare couldn't have been any more helpful prior to and during our visit. All of the team were friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend.

Rachel C — Google review

Well worth a visit. The museum includes an engaging reconstruction of a 1913 street in Great Yarmouth, plenty of background to the herring industry including smoking stacks, fishing boats, and more. When we visited there was also a retro gaming exhibit with playable arcade games. Overall a great balance of education and enjoyment. Budget about 90 minutes for a light visit, or 3 hours if you want to read every poster.

Great little museum, with some things that helped with my family history

Very interesting learning about the fishing industry in Yarmouth. It is reasonably wheelchair friendly and does have lifts to the upper floor. There is also a disability toilet on site.

Alison R — Google review

Great museum off the beaten track. We learnt lots about the varied history of Great Yarmouth. The lingering smell of the herring smoke tower is not for the faint hearted though ;-).

Vinnie W — Google review

Wow, wow, wow. Great place lots to see, loads of interesting history and stories. Things for kids to do. This place is a hidden gem. But allow plenty of time if you read a lot like me.

Ian — Google review

It doesn't look very big from the photos of the exterior does it? but imagine it as a bit like a Tardis of a museum, there is stacks to see as you move through the buildings behind the facade, an amazing museum of Yarmouth life particularly the fishing but also so many other aspects and history of the town.To be honest we were mightily impressed by the layout and by the concise but informative information panels and we both consider it to be one of the best and most enjoyable museums we've ever visited, it really is well worth a visit.

Brian T — Google review

Far more interesting than I thought it would be. Certainly worth a visit if you are in the area, the smell of the fish smoking is still present. A great way to spend a couple of hours.

David C — Google review

An absolute 5 star plus for this little Museum which expands like the tardis! A modest entrace fee is well worth it. Or you can purchase a fuller ticket that lets you into other venues of interest for a year plus this one of course If you use the car park nearby you need at least 3 hours. We did not manage to get everything fully explored in our time frame of 2 hours so be aware. School parties visit here too so it's full of all the small excited liitle people. Special assistance dogs are allowed and we took our greyhound Blaze who behaved impeccably. There is so much to see where do l begin. An amazing history of Great Yarmouth in its heyday and the wealth gained through its world wide herring fishing. The influx of the Scots at a particular time of year when they boosted the economy of this once great fishing port helped its wealth and growth. Processing of herring and the different methods are so interesting and demonstrated here. I particularly like the little street and the various victorian shops and houses reproduced. The Great Yarmouth Flood of the 1950s, where aid and generosity of other counties came into play, especially coal that helped bring warmth and dry out the houses. The 2 world wars had an impact on this coastal region which received the most devastation of the coastal ports. Things of course changed and holiday makers after the war flocked in their thousands as industries changed and died out. There are still many gems of the past in Yarmouth which alongside the deprivation and poverty needs to be looked for.

Great Yarmouth beach is a long stretch of sandy beach that is popular for its relaxed atmosphere and stunning views. Every Wednesday in the summer, the town hosts a fantastic fireworks display that is sure to please everyone.

Having been here since I was a child and I have to say I was surprised with how good it is. The beach is in pretty good shape and it's huge so loads of room for this time of year (April). Loads down the sea front with fairs and arcades, shops, chips (proper seaside chips) and cakes, ice cream etc. The fairs are a blast especially for kids and there is about 4 of them not just the main pleasure beach. There was a model village too, which we didn't visit in the end. All in all it was an easy day out visit the shops then onto the beach, chips, ice cream. Big smiles. I also flew a kite which at 37 was a first for me... Was totally sweet!

David K — Google review

The last time we visited Great Yarmouth was forty year ago. The beach is still excellent, it seems to go on forever. The town is rundown, OK for a day visit, would not stay longer.

Went for a sunny weekend. Was a bit cold but had an excellent weekend. The pier was good and the fish and chips near the beach was exceptional ans value for money.

Mitz S — Google review

Even though it was the middle of February and pretty chilly, we still love Great Yarmouth ♥ it's a lovely place for a winters stroll along the beach, and good to see its still very clean and well looked after. Nice to see the money being invested along the front also. Many places were closed when we were there obviously...but that in turn reduces the people and at times we pretty much had the whole beach to ourselves!Lovely to see the lights were left on at night so even though it was very quiet it looked pretty in the dark too.

Dave L — Google review

It was a wonderful experience being at Great Yarmouth. This place has multiple beaches and we have been to "Pleasure Beach" and it's a really good pleasure to be visiting this beach. The place is very lively and you have a lot of things to do. For example Casinos, Train Ride, Horse Ride, street food, local shopping, Marine Drive....,1 day is really not sufficient to visit completely. I recommend you to have at least a 2 day plan if you visit Great Yarmouth. The only problem is to find the car PARKING. We had a really tough time finding the car parking and after a lot of searching we found some place and it was very expressive. For a full day it's about 31 Pounds and it's very huge...

Pavan K — Google review

Lovely place for a holiday, soft sand, nice sea although cold in June, good for walking, lots of places to eat, nice bars , good shopping lots of thing to do and see, some free, the monument at the end of the front near premier Inn and passed the fun fair, then the boat on the other side free to look around donations are gratefully received, the wall is a good nice walk, once you found your way round it's easy, took us one day and we found walking to destination easy, then we came across the cathedral and a School was singing which was lovely, found the Jewish graveyard and paid our respects, the wheel and crazy golf also the model village pay once ,keep tickets go back as many time as you like, open top bus and the horse and carriage ride, fish and chips, Donuts and ice cream 🍦 we are going again but stoping in a different place later in the year. Advice double check what you book, where we stayed there was no lift and for the elderly or people with disabilities getting up flights of steps. We had a lovely holiday, really nice places to see some of the back streets need cleaning up the council should really sort this problem out.

First time in great Yarmouth fantastic place loads and i mean loads to do for all. Real nice drive down from Skegness no stress. Plenty of car parking spaces and the train station is not too far from the sea front

Beautiful beach. Went in April so quiet but very clean beach. Plenty to do and plenty of places to eat. Public toilets at 2 places along the beach can be a bit if a walk though. Beach goes for miles so always plenty of space.

Great Yarmouth has a sandy beach (some small pebbles in sand). It's sea is a long way out but so much space for all to enjoy. Very clean, lifeguard area available within the flags for safety. All the way along is shops did all variety of foods and drink, ice-cream and donuts galore. All essential beach equipment (buckets etc) available. Deckchairs and loungers can be hired. Parking available all along high road and car parks as well (parking is pricey) best to find an all-day set price and walk back and forth.

A great beach with plenty of local amusem*nt close by include Marine centre, Sea life, Arcade centres and cafe houses. We enjoyed a family day out to the beach. We didn’t visit the Pleasure beach with the rides because it was about to rain and we thought it was pricey for the rides and access.

Uzo A — Google review

Great Yarmouth beach is lovely to visit, friendly locals, good prices on most food and drinks along the sea front. It's clean along the pathways & dogs are allowed at certain times of the year.

Louise P — Google review

Is it the best beach in the world, maybe not, however because of the sheer length of it spanning almost 2 miles or more, there is sure to be a spot you do like that is suitable.A sandy beach offers the sun worshippers and the kids that beach that is reminiscent of a great seaside beach, so bring your towels and buckets and spades. The North end offers a stonier beach and small sand dunes and possibly more dog friendly but do check. The seafront has two great piers of entertainment as well as the leisure centre, sea life centre, a cat cafe nearby as well as plenty of food and drink kiosks. If the kids love their rides then again there are two locations that cater for those thrills and spills if that is your thing. Why not take a horse and carriage ride, or jump on a land trains, or explore on the open top bus?Plenty to enjoy here in Great Yarmouth.

Steven S — Google review

So much to do on the sea front such as britania and wellington pier. There is the sea life centre, crazy golf, amusem*nts, rides on joy land and pleasure Beach (try the wooden roller coaster and snails). There are endless resturants and views of the North Sea. If you are after a good family holiday great yarmouth is the place. There is a big wheel and a model village.

Surprisingly nice beach and enjoyable atmosphere.I was surprised when I visited for the first time because I did not have very high expectations, however, I really like the sand and even the water felt pretty good (a bit chilly, but tolerable). The beach can get busy time by time, therefore I would recommend to pick a day and time carefully. Also, it's really pretty both in the morning and evening as well, especially at sunrise and sunset times.I can recommend it.

Richárd V — Google review

Sandy and very clean beach with small pebbles at the water edge. Well maintained with lifeguard area in certain areas.Alongside sea front Marine Parade, has wide range of shops, ice cream and donuts huts, restaurants, entertainments, amusem*nt arcades. Open top bus, Tram, horse carriages, the Slingshot, the Great Yarmouth Eye (observation wheel) are quite popular.Be aware that dogs are not allowed in certain areas.

One of the nicest beaches I have been to! Very clean and tidy and we always have a lovely time here when the sun's out ☀️ If we lived closer I'd be there all the time!

Lana B — Google review

Great Yarmouth and it's lovely sandy beach is know about and loved by people all over the country. Many British seasides are looked down upon as time has gone by and trends change with cheap flights to other parts of the world, the great British holiday is looked upon with a yesteryear "hidi hi" attitude. Just remember, the only thing against the holiday in great Britain is our inconsistent and unpredictable weather. There are places abroad that would love vast beautiful golden sandy beaches that our coastlines have, especially Great Yarmouth.

Martin B — Google review

Sept 2018A couple of day's holiday here. There's a huge spance of sandy beach, with lots of cafes along the prom incl. Munchies dog friendly cafe at the far end of the prom opposite the wind farm. It has very delicious food, the staff are friendly. Wish I lived closer to be able to walk along the prom more often!

Carolyn H — Google review

Absolutely Amazing from the piers to all the seafront attractions. Seafront just seems to goes on forever. Beaches themselves amazing, love a good sandy beach such a golden colour to it. Down for the family holiday and think we'll have to come back just to see it all. Even all the food and drink stations are second to none could spend days on the beach before exploring the rest of Great Yarmouth. Think kids loved the fact the the New Prime drink was available to win in some of the arcade machines 😂

Joyland Children's Fun Park is a family-run amusem*nt park that opened in 1949, located next to Britannia Pier. The attractions include the original Tyrolean Tubs and Snails, both from this era. Kids will love the huge toy town mountain and spook express kiddie coaster.

Great area for younger children. My 6 year old loves it here. Several fun rides that are age appropriate. You can spend a couple of hours here easily. I'd say it's best for under 10's.Each ride is 1 token each, and you get a bag of 12 tokens for £15, and I think that's great value

Ian B — Google review

We love it here but was too busy this week when we went. We normally try to avoid holidays / weekends as it's manic. They still could do with introducing a 1-way system to help the flow of people. My son loves it and we all do. The snails is a childhood favourite for us all

Emma H — Google review

Love it here! It's always been a family favourite. Love that you can use tokens later in the year if you don't use them all up that day, staff are always friendly. It's all a little dated but helps with the nostalgia. Price has increased somewhat since our last visit but just a sign of the times I suppose.

Delphean O — Google review

Kids loved it. Rides are 1 token per person. You can buy tokens for £2 each or get a bag of 12 for £20. There was a £40 bag as well but I forget how many were in there. They went on the tubs three times! It was busy (school half term) but the lines for the rides were not that long.

Definitely worth a visit if staying in Great Yarmouth. Kids absolutely love the rides and the Spooky Express is a great little rollercoaster.During busier hours it can be very busy and crowded and wait times can be a little longer however no longer than 10-15 mins wait. Opens at 11am, during this Summer holiday closes times seem mostly around 7pm (one night is was much later, Wednesday due to other activities around)My youngest loved the snails (2) while my oldest loves the spooky express (6).

Ever since I've been young I've been going to Great Yarmouth to explore the vast culture they have there. A place I remember stumbling back upon was Joyland. There's a reason it's called Joyland and it's because it's so joyful! I absolutely loved the Snails ride there and thought it was very thrilling. Now I am a 37 year old woman and like to travel there almost every week just to ride the gorgeous snails! I can't wait to bring my future kids and husband here to my special place, I'm sure they will love it .

This is the reason we went to Great Yarmouth. I’d never been before but when it was ridiculously hot in the uk I looked for a hotel with air con and the coolest part of the uk within sensible driving distance. My 4 year old son said “I want to go to the green thing” and I promised we would return. So we did.And it’s s great. Not expensive at all, the rides are good fun and yes you pay for the photos but so what; it’s great memories and people all having a lovely time.

Great for younger children. Place has been here for years but still seems as exciting as ever.

Lovely little place for our oldest son. He had so much fun going on the rides. Worth the money for the tokens. Wasn't overly busy so he got right on the rides.

Katie M — Google review

I love going to this place even though I'm 18. It's fun to take my friends there and annoy them. The spooky ride is my favorite because even though it's short, you get to go around twice which makes it worth it. The water ride is cool too, but you might get a little whiplash afterwards.

Great little spot for our toddler (2 year old) to enjoy, she's not much of an adrenaline junkie but it was nice for her to be able to experience rides. The only downside is most of the ride operators looked extremely miserable

Works out a out £2 per ride including rollercoasters.Good value for money, especially comparing to London funfairs.

Whenever we visit Great Yarmouth, we always try to go to Joyland! This year we had with us our 9yr old & 5yr old and they could do all of the little rides the place had to offer. We recommend buying the 25token pack (currently at £30) which allows both kids to go on all the rides at least once, with a few more left over.Even my wife & I managed to go on a ride or two :) Definitely recommend it!It can feel a little dated in some places but overall is a good place to spend an hour or two with the kids.

Richard D — Google review

It's not great. Super super noisy inside. Not good for children that are sensitive to noise at all. Super busy and hardly anywhere to sit or move freely. It has a few ride on machines that are well past their sell by dates. The bigger rides looked ok.

FatBoy G — Google review

Spooky train ride & the after pictures were great, felt it was the major attraction worth the thrill. Snail ride only goes up one round, and that's it. I felt it could be longer, like 2 rounds just like the rest.

A great amusem*nt Park for kids .. and the young at heart. The original snail ride and tubs are still there and still fun for all ages.

Martin R — Google review

A firm favourite by many generations this place really is part of the furniture and a main vein of a beating city. The staff are always polite and safety is a huge priority for themThere is enough of a selection of rides to keep different ages happy. This is only a small place with free entry and rides are paid with my tokens available near the entrance.A bag of tokens will cost about £15.00 so not cheap if on a budget and as with all things the prices have gone up.This said, this remains a favourite go to by many families including my own.Parking is available near by, but if you want free parking you may have a small walk.A great place and if in Great Yarmouth with children, a must visit..although some adults love it just as much.

Steven S — Google review

Great fun for families with young children rides are 1 token per person . My daughter is 6 and could ride most the rides alone although is fun to go on with her especially the snails. Photos are available to buy for snails and spooky coaster reasonably priced we bought 3 key rings for 10 pounds

The Norwich Theatre Royal is a historic performing arts theater located in the city of Norwich. It has been around for over 150 years and offers a wide range of shows to choose from, along with a range of things to do with children.

Was here tonight with the better half to watch Magic Goes Wrong. It was absolutely hilarious! I didn’t stop laughing the whole time!It was clean and tidy, staff were really friendly. My only issue with the theatre is the parking situation!

Dean — Google review

I recently visited the Norwich Theatre Royal before attending Stage Two, and my overall experience was quite enjoyable. Upon entering, I decided to grab a drink, but the prices were steep. Paying eight pounds for a glass of rose wine and a bottle of co*ke seemed a bit excessive to me. Nonetheless, I proceeded upstairs and was pleased to find many available seats. One of the highlights of my visit was the exceptional staff at the Norwich Theatre Royal. I encountered numerous outstanding team members eager to assist and provide excellent customer service. Even during busy periods, there was always someone available to lend a helping hand. This level of attentiveness and dedication added to the overall friendly atmosphere of the theatre.I must say, the overall experience left me wishing I were a resident of Norwich. The city itself is a beautiful place, and it particularly shines in its theatrical offerings. The Norwich Theatre Royal seems to be a hub for entertainment and cultural experiences, and I could feel the vibrant energy in the air. It's truly a remarkable destination for theatre enthusiasts. In conclusion, although I found the drink prices higher, the Norwich Theatre Royal provided an enjoyable experience. The abundance of available seats, coupled with the friendly atmosphere and exceptional staff, made for a memorable visit. Norwich is a city that truly embraces the arts, and the theatre scene is undoubtedly a highlight. I highly recommend visiting the Norwich Theatre Royal for anyone looking to immerse themselves in a beautiful theatrical experience.

Vision of Elvis:The band and backing singers made the show. Elvis didn't really arrive in the building.Theatre: Friendly staff, clean, warm, pretty well ventilated, no cloakrooms and limited space for coats under chairs (not unusual). If you’re over 6ft or have long legs, you will struggle with knee space unless you get the odd row which has additional legroom. Binoculars available for £1. Toilets on multiple floors. Regardless of the performance, £28 was very good value for a ticket and night out.

Great entertainment - came for panto 03.01.2022 and was not disappointed. Very modern building inside which was unexpected. The show was delayed for 30 mins due to a main cast member isolating but there were plenty of announcements. Programmes were £3.50, light spinners £6, light up cat ear Hairbands £4, hand clappers £2. Small bar serving drinks and a small selection of nibbles. Didn't go upstairs as didn't need to. Lots of loos. Helpful ushers. Sat in the Prelude restaurant during the delay. Not serving food/meals. Toilets and lift next to prelude restaurant.

I always love the Theatre Royal in Norwich. The staff are brilliant and School of Rock last night was phenomenal. The only thing I'd say is, you need an Isle in the middle so we are not standing so much and moving coats and bags so often, to let people past.

Not a very accessible review. There is a lot of steps and although there is a working lift it doesn’t access all the levels. My party still had to climb stairs, despite a mobility disability. Three members of staff tried to assist but there was nothing they could really do. I just wish when I booked the tickets I knew which seats were accessible, perhaps worth having on the booking site

We were brought colouring crayons and activity books, service was really fast and there are really fresh, delicious options if you don't fancy pizza. Lovely staff who were very sweet with the kids. Will always come back soon.

Really good service by Richard, smiling and friendly, the food was great and the place was buzzing, the only complaint was that everyone, except Richard and one other colleague seemed so miserable, a smile doesn't cost anything.

Tony P — Google review

We had lunch here we thought it looks baby friendly lots of kids around we were seated by this young lady with dark hair, we thought her service was exceptional, except our food wasn’t what we expected, we waited almost an hour for our food to arrived some people sat down after us and got their food before us. My wife have dietary restriction so we asked for a pasta dish with alternative cheese and stuffs. The pasta came as if they were left over, pasta was broken and overcooked(I shared photos of before and after), sauce was ok but burnt and they forgotten the cheese we thought. My wife said I could cook better at home then this, so we asked the young lady who served our table she was real nice and handled it professionally. We waited not long for the second and pasta was much better. Btw the Romano pizza was very thin and sloppy idk whether is the same across other stores but try avoid it go for classic instead. Three stars all go to the service.

Calvin C — Google review

The food was delicious, we had a sloppy guiseppe and a calzone which were both really nice. Pizza was a touch overdone, but the flavour made up for it.Had the hot honey dough balls, which was a combination that I never thought would work, but I was definitely wowed! The billionaires sundae was incredible, I've never tasted something so delicious! The service, however, wasn't great. The young girls who worked there all looked really miserable as if they had better places to be! It was a shame as it definitely let the whole meal down with the food being wonderful.

Love the setting of this restaurant being in the Forum. Great views if you can sit by the big windows. Plus always had friendly service, and lovely food. App is useful, as you can track your bill once you sign in, and get free dough balls upon first use of it. Plus settle your bill through the app.

Nice location , food was okay , good pizza . Starter not so nice . One waitress Dabi or Gabi young foreign girl was lovely and very hard working . The rest especially a young girl covered in tattoos were very lazy . We waited like other people over 20 minutes to get served while she and friends were busy gas bagging .

Because of Jack we will be back!Superb experience from beginning to end. Jack genuinely enjoyed serving us and we enjoyed and felt very privileged to be served by him!Perfect amount of banter with a bit of light humour. All topped off with some great food, made for a really nice enjoyable evening. Best meal out for a very long time. Thanks Jack & Pizza Express 👍🏼

Food was great and a really nice location. Very hot inside due to so many windows and no air conditioning (but we are in summer). Staff are friendly.

Mikey B — Google review

This is a really good Pizza Express. Visited on a very busy Saturday lunchtime but we were served quickly and efficiently. The staff should be singled out specifically for being friendly and helpful; they're a real credit to the restaurant

Para D — Google review

We had an excellent experience at pizza express yesterday even though it was busy. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they made sure we were never left waiting too long during the busy lunch rush. They were even able to light a birthday cake I had brought with me and bring it over to the table! And never made it seem like too much for them.Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the waitress who severed us but I would like to give her a special thanks for making our experience so wonderful. The food was very good, hot and fresh. I liked you could see into part of the kitchen and see the pizza being made.

Georgia R — Google review

Lovely little Pizza Express with a great view of the church. Service was lovely and speedy (visited on a monday evening) and food was excellent. I recommend getting the app prior to your visit and referring a friend to activate some promotional codes, such as free sides or free dough balls!

Georgia A — Google review

Gets quite busy during the day so booking is a must. Lots of light wherever you sit with good views. Ample staffing usually who are attentive. Good tails and interesting sides and mains. Excellent location. Would recommend.

Afzal A — Google review

It was an ok experience, the restaurant has a great view, the staff were polite, prompt and friendly but the food didn't really inspire. The pizza base was disappointing and the bruschetta wasn't as good as I remember.Nothing was bad - maybe just our timing. So many independent Pizza restaurants now challenging the big chains that perhaps I had been spoilt with some of these?

Museum

Sights & Landmarks

Museum of Norwich Castle houses collections of archaeology, natural history, regimental history, fine art and contemporary art. The castle is a beautiful Norman keep built in 1095 by William II. There are tours to the keep every half hour and also tours around the battlements and dungeons which are very creepy.

Beautiful place, definitely worth a visit. Lots of exhibits to see. We were only there to go to the registry office for a wedding. Despite the prevailing storm, the taxi got us all the way to access the castle. Great occasion.

John M — Google review

First time seeing this kind of castle, and it's own unique designs (to be honest) i like the shapes of this castle. You can explore whole castle and it's art galleries 2in1 but for this year 2023 the castle staff said the castle is close/not working and you cannot explore visit, because it's under reconstruction works... so. But all in all nice place to visit and explore. If you guys will be visiting Norwich this castle it's one of the popular places of this unique and beautiful City. (i'll drop some additional bonus photos of all around the city places not only the castle :) ) enjoy.

The castle was being renovated but the local museum was open. It had interesting information about things including natural history, Boadicea, Romans, art, and the military. It also had a special exhibition about a local shipping disaster of the Gloucester, that was carrying the future King James II.

Karen B — Google review

I took my children to see The last voyage of The Gloucester exhibition which we found very interesting. They did make us aware when we arrived there were lots of parts of the museum closed so be prepared to not see as much as you normally would as you go around. The staff we met around the museum were pleasant and helpful. The coffee shop is limited in what they serve at the same time The food they do serve is really good and the member of staff that served us was a real star, she was very welcoming and helpful with everything we needed. If you are interested in local history definitely check out The last Voyage exhibition. We did find that the lighting needs a bit of improvement in some of the cabinets especially with such small name labels. At the same time if you're not too interested in reading the names it won't be to much of a bother.

Natasha — Google review

Very pleasant visit to the castle. Parts under construction but still lots to view. Coffee very nice in the cafe. Vegan food was an orange/apple/ chocolate bar. Watched a wedding party move through the museum. The exhibits are fabulous. £6.50 admission. Must view for visitors.

Lorraine J — Google review

Castle is under construction, so only thing you have access to is the museum. The great thing is the deal for £2 if you come the hour before closing which I did. Which I think is enough time to see everything. There is natural history displays, historical, art, military, teapot collection and tapestry upstairs. They have a little souvenir shop and a cafe.I have rated the attraction as if I would of paid full price of £6.70, which I do feel is a bit expensive for what is there. There is reductions for family groups. All staff were very friendly, and I did love the adopt the artefact initiative which I thought was very novel. Would visit again when the construction has finished on the castle which is the main attraction.

Claudette — Google review

For the cost of just over £7 the museum exhibit is both well put together and very informative with plenty of activities for kids. The historic items span from the roman times all the way to modern day which makes things more interesting also. It's well worth a visit and is an enjoyable place with very friendly staff.

Nathanael R — Google review

The castle itself was closed for some heavy-duty building works when I visited, but the galleries were open. A fascinating display of artifacts from the wreck of the 'Gloucester', along with a history of the event. Some lovely art galleries and even one devoted to teapots!Worth combining with the ciity museum.

Mike C — Google review

Didn't expect so much taxidermy. Lots to see and do, as long as you like stuffed dead animals. The dungeons were unfortunately closed due to building works, so we just saw the museum. Well kept and managed.

Emily L — Google review

Wonderfull place to visit with kids. All family enjoyed exploring the history of Norwich and Norfolk. Great expo of ancient relics, coins, pictures etc. Worth mentioning huge section of teapots (hundreds!).Two thumbs up!

Andrejus S — Google review

Lovely Museum, despite the castle area being under refurbishment. Similar to another big museum in my home city Oxford. Minus 1 star because the toilets are in two different ends of the building for Male and Female which meant it was difficult to find, this could be due to the refurbishment, so did not cause us too much trouble! We got a free entry ticket to their other museum, on the other side of the city too!

Norwich Castle is a must-visit destination for history buffs and architecture enthusiasts alike. Despite undergoing some repairs at the moment, the castle remains an impressive sight, showcasing Norman architecture at its finest. The castle has a rich history, having served as a royal palace, a prison, and a museum over the centuries.Visitors can explore the castle's museum, which houses a vast collection of artifacts, including Roman, medieval, and Saxon treasures. The museum provides a fascinating glimpse into the history of East Anglia and the city of Norwich. The castle also features beautiful gardens, including a tranquil picnic area and a stunning floral display.Despite the ongoing repairs, the castle is still worth a visit. The work being done is not disruptive to the visitor experience and does not detract from the castle's natural beauty and historical significance. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and they are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the castle and its history. In conclusion, Norwich Castle is a truly unique and fascinating place that should be on everyone's list of must-see attractions. Despite the repairs, it is still a wonderful place to visit and explore. Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to step back in time and discover the rich history of East Anglia

Norwich castle is very good and is lots of fun..Even though a few parts of castle were/are closed for renovation work, there is still enough to see. The lower admission fees are very fair.

Hazel H — Google review

It’s a pretty decent museum and has some interesting exhibits and art throughout. Norwich Castle has some amazing history as well as being the museum it is today. Unfortunately right now it is under construction so many exhibits you can temporarily not enter, but this does not stop you from having a good experience. There is amazing paintings and sculptures throughout, taxidermy animals, fossils, areas about Egyptians, Romans and more; and a nice gift shop. A nice touch is that students enter for free, so this is a great place for students to come if they are looking for something to do in Norwich for the day. Highly recommend.

Alex C — Google review

Not recommend going to the museum, the castle is closed. It is half natural history museum, half Norwich history museum. It costs me 7£for a student ticket, I prefer a pint in Norwich, prefer to sit outside the castle rather paying and going inside the museum

Norwich Castle, situated in the heart of Norwich, England, is a historic fortress with a rich and varied past dating back over 900 years. Originally built by the Normans in the 11th century following the Norman Conquest of England, the castle has served various purposes throughout its history, including as a royal palace, a county gaol, and a museum. Its impressive architecture includes a massive stone keep, which is one of the finest examples of Norman military architecture in Europe. The keep once housed the royal apartments and later served as a prison. Surrounding the keep is a defensive wall and a large dry moat.In addition to its architectural significance, Norwich Castle is renowned for its extensive museum collections, which cover a wide range of topics including archaeology, fine art, natural history, and ethnography. Visitors can explore exhibits ranging from ancient Egyptian artifacts to contemporary art installations. The castle also offers educational programs, events, and guided tours, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists interested in history and culture. Its strategic location atop a hill provides panoramic views of the city, making it a picturesque spot to visit. Overall, Norwich Castle stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Norman influence in England and continues to be a symbol of the city's heritage.

Cathedral

Sights & Landmarks

Norwich Cathedral is a famous Romanesque church edifice dating from 1096. It's currently the cathedral for the Church of England Diocese of Norwich, and is open to visitors who don't follow its faith. The cathedral has high Norman tower, large monastic cloisters, and some original Norman wall painting.

Wonderful place to visit. My first visit but certainly not my last. The staff were very helpful couldn't and be faulted. Next time I will take the free guided tour.

Neil L — Google review

An amazing place to visit and won't break the bank. The entrance is very welcoming. Very open and modern with lots of information on offer and no extra mandatory charge for it, like some cathedrals. You can wander around freely or go on a tour. I chose to walk freely but would recommend a tour if you would like more info or at least picking up some of their booklets. The buildings themselves and grounds are very well kept and are nice to walk around. I am glad this cathedral is being looked after. The upstairs is accessible with a lift where the cafe/toilets and library are situated. I was lucky enough to visit their library on a day where they were allowing visitors to view their older books. This for me was an incredible experience and I am grateful to have seen the incredible volume of books they care for.I did have to park a little bit away but Norwich does have a good amount of parking about, and its the only thing you would have to pay for in this trip.

A must see. Upon entry you are greeted by staff who give you a guide and explain a few things. No entry fee however there is a voluntary donation desk if you wish to donate. Donation is greatly received and appreciated. Inside the Cathedral there is lots to see with beautiful art work and architecture. Soak in the peaceful atmosphere and view the beautiful glass stained windows. There are guided tours. gift shop, cafe and toilets.

A very beautiful cathedral. The cathedral is the seat of the bishop of Norwich and the mother church of the diocese of Norwich. It is located in the heart of the city so I recommend anyone who goes to Norwich to visit. Entrance is free and it is pet friendly as well. The staff is also very helpful and inform you by answering all your questions sincerely.

A must see on your to do list if visiting Norwich. We visited around 2.30pm on a Sunday in December. We were welcomed by a very friendly, bubbly, informative lady at the entrance.Entrance is free but if you can give a donation it all helps to keep this incredible building in the remarkable condition it is.We listened to the organ playing whilst taking in the breathtaking stained glass windows, incredible architecture (remember to look up) and the history. Pausing to light candles in remembrance of others and for peace. Sitting for a few moments of prayer and contemplation. There is a wonderful cafe attached to the side of the cathedral, scrumptious cakes, scones, rolls, pastries, mince pies; eat in or take out. We sat and had a delicious cup of earl grey and a nibble of naughtiness.Would highly recommend to all.

Really lovely cathedral right in the middle of Norwich, in walking distance of the train station. I only popped in for a quick visit so really didn't get the full experience. I'd love to come back and invest a bit more time as there's so much to look at and so much history to learn about. I recommend giving yourself a couple of hours if you really want to explore everything, however it's still worth going in if you only have a little bit of time.

Connor S — Google review

Very impressive cathedral, amazed it was free to visit! I particularly enjoyed the treasury and seeing the painted brickwork up close, many people don't know that these historic buildings were painted when they were first built, that paint has largely faded over the centuries.

Norwich Cathedral is a stunning example of Norman architecture, boasting intricate carvings, towering spires, and a rich history dating back over 900 years. Stepping into its grand interior, you're immediately struck by the sense of awe and reverence. The vaulted ceilings seem to reach up to the heavens, while the stained glass windows flood the space with a kaleidoscope of color. Whether you're a history buff, an architecture enthusiast, or simply seeking a moment of quiet reflection, Norwich Cathedral offers a truly memorable experience.

It is a fantastic building worth exploring if you are in Norwich. Some lovely stained glass windows are framed by the architecture, and the craftsmanship is incredible. Free to explore and see what the building has to offer. There is a cafe, toilets and a gift shop and a labyrinth in the cloister. I visited late in the day so the cafe and shop were closed along with the exhibition but reason to visit again one day

I absolutely loved our visit to Norwich Cathedral. They have super helpful volunteers on the door that are extremely nice and make you feel really welcome. We joined a free tour which was superb, it lasted just over an hour and I could have listened to the guide all day. The architecture was simply stunning and the information that the guide conveyed brought the history of the cathedral to life. I loved the carvings of the Green Men dotted all over the place. Entry was free (as it should be for a place of worship) but I was more than happy to make a donation to this wonderful place.

Really nice visit, even though I am local and seen it all before....you can't fail to be impressed by the beautiful architecture of this magnificent building, the sheer scale of it is incredible. My young son really enjoyed looking around which was somewhat surprising as it's not really something you would think children would enjoy.......it's the school holidays & IT'S ALWAYS RAINING !!!! so give me marks for being creative!!! the resident cathedral cat helped my cause & obviously the cafe who is powered by BREAD SOURCE so always gonna be a winner!! Although the gift shop is seriously lacking ...although really busy with customers even my 5 year old couldn't find anything he wanted...that means it is REALLY BAD.... should collaborate with Jarrolds to stock it. Two Norwich icons together would be great to see.

Stunning architectural building made many of our group feel so emotional. To think it took 50 years to construct is truly amazing especially considering it dates back to 1096.Our son took part in being a chorister for a day last Saturday. It was so special and something we will always remember. The staff were so committed and passionate. It was a real privilege.Definitely recommend the shop, too. The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts is a world-famous art gallery in Norwich that opened in 1978. It has permanent and temporary exhibitions of art from the ancient to the modern, with a variety of abstract, constructivist and art nouveau wonders.

Popped in for a pint of milk and loaf of bread, only to be told they were an art gallery - not a supermarket!Seriously, an iconic building with a first rate art collection and world class exhibitions.Set in a beautiful surrounding landscape with installed sculptures and lake. Also has an excellent and reasonably priced restaurant.Have visited many times, would recommend.

Visited Picasso Exhibition. After a very enjoyable and affordable lunch went on the Sculpture Trail. This covered quite a large area taking us around the grounds, through the woods and along the Broad. The sculptures were varied and of all sizes using many different materials. There was even a Gormley figure on top of a building!

Really lovely place to visit if you appreciate art. The museum is quite spacious and has a variety of collections from AD till this century. The centre operates a pay what you can afford ticket service and I think that’s commendable as well. I do recommend paying a visit if you’re in Norwich.

Never enjoyed this kind of museum which gave me super calm and nice experiences! Went to two exhibitions in a row, Constructivism and Picasso’s. The general structure of the centre is beautifully designed as bringing you more installations outside. (What a great arcitecture by Norman Foster) I deffo will visit again. Worth visiting!

What a treat to visit! Some beautiful pieces especially love the 3 Chinese funeral figures and the Japanese dancers film. The bucket man was scarey kept a safe distance just in case it was a living statue. The exhibition by Stair, loved the sentiment of the pots and the written pieces of the families concerned wonderful tributes. Then the cafe reasonable and delicious food.

Excellent arts centre located in the heart of the University. Free car parking, entry price is whatever you want to pay, we paid £5 each. The main area has lots of ancient artifacts, a few paintings, and a few modern installations. They have additional installations downstairs and on the mezzanine floor. They have a small cafe and a large cafe restaurant, the large cafe serves main meals at lunchtime, otherwise coffee and cake. They also have an excellent shop. Very interesting and well worth a visit.

Been going here since I was a kid, always loved it. They've started rotating the permanent collection a bit more, which is a really good idea. The building itself is a work of art and the sculpture trail is a great addition. Pay what you can afford too for the permanent collection 👍

Amazing place to visit with the choice of your own entrance fees. Collection of many artifacts from all over the world. The architecture of the building is also impressive. Fairly average large art gallery. Has a weird atmosphere due to size and likeness to a warehouse and office space. Great cafes. Outdoor space is beautiful and the nearby modernist architecture is stunning. Feels more like a tax avoidance scheme rather than a cultural experience.

Ken C — Google review

Loved this place within the East anglia University. The building was featured in avengers as their headquarters. Lovely collection of artifacts and a lovely collection depicting environmental challenges in the world.

Arup D — Google review

Great atmosphere, with excellent exhibits. The gallery even has an interactive section with an alternate view of art, and a lovely cafe. A calming place, that is free to get in, or give a donation. We are very lucky to have the Sainsburys centre in our city, in the heart of the beautiful and brutalist UEA campus!

Noah G — Google review

What an amazing place, hidden away on campus. Degas, Henry Moore, and much more. Spent a good 3 hours here, and still there's more. Absolutely fascinating art and sculptures. A hidden gem! The exhibition downstairs is both moving and impressive.

Points of Interest & Landmarks

The Elm Hill is a pretty and famous street in Norwich which was rebuilt after a fire in 1507. It features cantilevered houses, galleries, cafes and shops selling antiques, collectibles and arts and crafts.

A rare surviving medieval street. Cobbled with lovely timber homes and shops with overhanging first floors. This is what Norwich would have looked like before fires destroyed most of these types of buildings.

Lindsay H — Google review

Beautiful little street with so much history and surrounded by lovely old tudor buildings. Lots of interesting independent shops and art galleries.Very nice place for a stroll and bit of shopping.

Tim H — Google review

A small street surrounded by historical old houses dating back to the Tudors. It hosts many local shops and cafes.

Mine O — Google review

Pretty old street with history and some nice boutique shops. While away an hour here to add to your enjoyment of Norwich

Patrick C — Google review

An historic part of the area that seems to have lost some it's shine and comes to life when the tourists visit

Colin P — Google review

All visitors to Norwich should visit this quaint charming area, full of character. Well worth it.

Steve M — Google review

A quaint little street, quiet and historic buildings. Uneven cobblestone roads so wear good walking shoes here.

Pauline Y — Google review

Nice picturesque street/area. Not much there really, but worth a visit if you’re in the area.

David H — Google review

The best street of medieval Norwich. Stunning at dusk.

Romà J — Google review

Beautiful little street. Not many like that in the uk.

Ilias E — Google review

Wonderful medieval street that survived some of the ww2 bombing of the city. An absolute must see street in Norwich

Lisa M — Google review

Charming little street with a few gift shops.

This street is cute, though is really just 2 minute walk past a dozen historic buildings on a picturesque street. It's perhaps worth the 5 minute detour if visiting Norwich Cathedral but I wouldn’t make special trip.

Absolutely brilliant! The best day out weve had. There was so much to do and i loved that parents can get involved too! Highly recommend to anyone with children of all ages who love to explore outdoors!

Kirstie T — Google review

Awesome! We went as a family for 4, 2 adults, 3 year old and 6 year old. It was fantastically entertaining for all of us. I wasn’t sure if there would be enough for the little one but everything feels so safe and well thought out, there was plenty to do. I love that we could all get something out of it, climbing up into the trees. Everything was included in the price (except for food) which was refreshing. The kids enjoyed all the climbing spaces, face painting and live theatre show. The cafe had plenty of variety and all reasonably priced. There were lots of benches with shade for picnics or cafe food.We arrived about 11.30 and there were plenty of cars in the car park but no queue to get in. The bewilderboat was busy with a 15min wait so we walked the trail instead which was fun as it had plenty to look at. The first area within the park was quite busy and we queued up the tree and round to the slides but after that, it was more spread out and easy to move about. We stayed until closing. Definitely will be back.

Kirsty M — Google review

Took my very active 2 year old and 7 year old. Everyone absolutely loved it, both children got to do everything obviously with adult support too but their was also so much to do where the adult could take a break too🤣 as you definitely need it. We had a lovely boat trip at the beginning with lovely stories for the kids.Park is well kept and all staff are absolutely lovely, The little food huts had dairy free options witch is amazing for us as some places don't do this. Food and drink was priced OK, we brought a picnic but brought lollies and drinks so we didn't spend too much.If your looking for a fun filled day out then I'd highly recommend here. We came at 10am and didn't leave till 3.30pm and it was hard to get the kids out, But the gift shop helped🤣 everyone walked out with smiles on their faces and their legs aching! We will definitely come back and do it all over again

Courtney W — Google review

A truly magical day out for all of the family. Prices were really reasonable and all of the activities once there were included in the ticket price.Food was tasty and very fairly priced and was different to what you'll find at most family attractions (e.g. sausage casserole).I can imagine that if you visited on a really rainy day it would make it much less enjoyable - we had only a couple of really light and brief showers and it didn't detract from the fun in anyway. But there's not much in the way of shelter so you're advised to go prepared! We arrived for opening and left just before closing and we didn't quite manage to do absolutely everything so rest assured there's plenty to keep you busy. When it's busy you can expect to queue at some of the pinch points and for the boat ride (short but fun) - exacerbated by one of the boats being out of action the day we visited. All of the wooden structures were lots of fun and it felt like a really unique day out. Highly recommend to anyone with young children.

Andy M — Google review

We had the most amazing day here. All the staff are friendly. The prices are really reasonable. The paths are good for buggys and wheelchairs. My children loved the slides and zip wires. All the adults enjoyed the maizes and climbing frames as well as the children.Food was really good and reasonably priced. Gluten free options available. So much to do, arts, face painting, boat ride, shows and exploring.

Rachel L — Google review

This is by far, one of our favourite places to go every time we are in the area. Get ready to bring out the child within and get mucky. Huge adventure climbing frames, den building, zip lines, mega slides, face painting, hourly stage shows, boat rides etc. The kids and i just absolutely love this place, be prepared to spend the day there, we arrived at 10:30am and left at 5pm. We bought packed lunch to have which is what most people did. There's like 5 big adventure climbing frames + smaller parks with swings, slides, smaller frames to climb + areas for younger kids. It was so good to spend the day there. They have 3 sets of zip lines, one of which is for kids 5 and under which is really good. Overall, this should be on your must visit list if you are ever planning a good day out. If the days wet, be prepared to get muddy but if you get the weather right, you'll have an amazing time.

Myke G — Google review

Stumbled across this place while on holiday purely by accident looking for something a little different to do with the kids. What a fantastic place. Staff were awesome! Friendly and enthusiastic! The park was beautiful and who doesn't want to play in GIANT treehouses!! The kids thought it was fantastic and even better we got to join in! Loved it and can't wait to go back. It's pricey but well worth it! Best day of our holiday by far.

Christine T — Google review

We had a brilliant day here as 2 adults and 1 child (6yo). I can say that I had as a good a time as the 6yo if not better! Plenty of activities available alongside the climbing. Brilliant boat ride. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

Kim C — Google review

Fantastic day with the kids. Lots of tree houses, treetop mazes, zip wires, story telling and crafts. Very well done, plenty of coffee and food places and great for keeping the little ones occupied for a few hours. Will definitely be back.

Chris P — Google review

We spent the day at BeWILDerwood and the children loved it. There was lots to do including a boat ride, zip lines, fast slides and lots of wooden climbing areas that kept the children busy for hours. There was plenty of places to grab a drink or a bite to eat and there were spaces for families to eat their picnics. We also went to the lantern parade in the evening and the children made their own lanterns and enjoyed a night time walk through the forest. A brilliant day out!

Laurence B — Google review

A mecca for the Conservative holiday maker. The park is well run and never felt overcrowded. It blends the themes of the novels into its sylvan surroundings with ease. The storytellers are adroit and perform their part with much aplomb. The activities will make the time fly by.Perfectly suited to children between 3-7. 8 at a stretch. Adults won’t be bored either and they run to keep an eye on the brood. An abundance of plastic water bottles suggests that they might want to take a leaf from the YHA and consider selling refillable (?branded) bottles to use with a water fountain.

Charles M — Google review

A must visit when coming to Norfolk! Fun for all the family and for the kids to get adventurous, mucky and burn the steam off!Adults, beware for a leg workout climbing around everywhere 😂.Food was really good, had the hotpot which was very flavorful.10/10 would go again.

J C — Google review

A good day out and in reality it was largely a series of playgrounds throughout the woods but the kids enjoyed it and that’s all that matters. Storytelling, crafts & a boat ride add to the fun. I would have liked to see the staff/actors linking each of the play areas to the storyline which would have given it an extra dimension. Food & drink were acceptable.

Steven A — Google review

This was my daughter 5th birthday gift,we came to visit from London to see her best friend who moved to the area here. We couldn't ask for more fun and excitement and loving time! Is a memory we will keep forever in our hearts 💕

lauramarziali1 — Google review

It's just a simple playground with a very limited variety of simple installations. The age group it really caters for is max 8-9. The location in the woods is nice albeit in the middle of nowhere. The boatmen are great in trying to convey a bit of the magic. And the ticket price leaves you to expect a LOT more.

Kyr B — Google review

Brilliant day out for the family.Loads of climbing areas for adults and kids to run around.Boat ride is a nice addition.Staff all very friendly and helpful.Take picnics with you if possible as the food is a little pricey especially the hot drinks which are in small cups and about £3 a pop.Be sure to catch the live shows with swampy👍

Daniel — Google review

We visited Bewilderwood on the 14th May with our daughter whilst we were visiting the area. We had the best day ever! Our daughter (3, nearly 4) absolutely loved it. We did the boat ride (twice), zip wires, rope bridges, slides, crafts and watched storytelling shows. Our daughter's favourite bit was the shows and she watched 3! The storytellers (I think they were called Ryan and Eva) made a real fuss of our daughter and it made a lasting impression- she fell in love with Mildred the Crocklebog and got her very own Mildred in the shop and has been re-enacting the stories since we got home. All the staff were very friendly and kept up the magical element for the children. It's set in a lovely woodland area and we spent 7 hours outdoors having fun so well worth the ticket prices! We will definitely be back!

Joscelyn B — Google review

Absolutely fantastic place for kids to run, play and climb. There are boat rides, puppet shows, zip lines and various different structures for kids to explore.

THE BEST DAY OUT FOR CHILDREN. Met up with some friends during the Easter holidays, this is such an outstanding place for children. We spent ALL DAY here and had to physically carry our children out as they just didn't want to leave!! Truly fantastic value for money as it is an all day event, so much going on but because the site is so vast never felt overcrowded despite being very busy. The boat journey is an absolute must & the story time is also a highlight, den building, hat making the list goes on...don't hesitate just book it.

Amanda D — Google review

Great place for the kids and so much for them to do also ..ie.zip lines boat rides along with so much climbing and up and downs great staff

Museum of the Broads

Specialty Museums

The Museum of the Broads, which I visited for the first time today after its refurbishment, is truly remarkable. Its collection consists of various types of boats used on the broads, accompanied by information about their usage and purpose. Moreover, it features captivating artwork showcasing boats on the broads as well as equipment utilized for boat construction and repair. The exhibition also provides insight into the history of marine engineering and presents a section dedicated to the diverse wildlife found in this national park.

I did my first visit there today since the referbishment, I have to say it is fantastic. It's collection comprises of various types of boats used on the broads and there is information on how they were used and what work they were used for. There are also some great art works featuring boats on the broads and also equipment that was used to build and repair the boats. The exhibition features a history of marine engineering and also a section showing the wildlife on the broads. The staff are very helpful and are very knowledgeable on the subjects, if you are on holiday in this area or just passing through I would recommend a visit.

If you are taking a boat out of Richardson's, plan in a couple of hours to visit this museum before you sail off. You will have a much deeper understanding, and respect for the waters you are about to embark on.The museum volunteers are hugely knowledgeable about the Broads, and offer their time and advice freely and warmly. If you are not hiring a boat, it is still worth a visit for the history, and you can take a boat cruise with this wonderful team.Make this a 'must' if you are this way in Norfolk. I had a lovely couple of hours.

A wonderful morning spent on the water on the steam powered Falcon, looking around the Wherry Albion (which was visiting) and exploring this gem of a museum - all powered by volunteers.I learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed our time (we spent nearly 4 hours on site) with so many vessels and artefacts to look at and so much information to read. The entry price is £7 each well spent, and £8 each for a 50 minute broads tour was fabulous value on such a historic boat.We are so lucky to have volunteers who restore and look after the boats and share their time.

It was too hot to look around the museum when we visited but we chose to pay extra for the boat trip, we still bought the museum tickets :). We had a lovely time on the boat and our boats driver told us many interesting things on our journey. He was very jolly and made the journey even more enjoyable. We'd highly recommend that you visit and go on a boat trip :)!

What a stunning beach. Really beautiful. Had a really good swim although the current is very strong so be careful. Swam inside the breakers to the right of the lifeguard facility and then shot back like a starving shark attacking a seal. Speaking of which, seals are spotted here so be aware and don't play with them as they can be rough.

Colin D — Google review

Good facilities by the parking area next to the beach front. Small Amusem*nt arcade, one where you can have your millions of tickets to exchange for a keyring. With a small cafe attached to it- a nice place but it’s not massive so expect it to be full on busy summer days - parking is chargeable and can be paid by phone or card. The beach is lovely and clean, lots of sand, and lovely dunes that are home to many animalsWorth a visit, the people who own/run the cafe and amusem*nts seemed very nice and friendly 😃

Love this beach. Always looks clean and tidy.Great for dog walksNice for paddlingA good chance of seeing a seal, which I did this morning

Tracy W — Google review

Lovely beach on the East coast, tide was going out when we arrived, clean and great for dog walks, lovely cafe too

Steve B — Google review

The concrete at the dunes is less attractive, apart from that it is a nice sandy beach. As a great opportunity here you can watch seals, bring binoculars or a camera with a long lens with you.

Christoph H — Google review

Great beach but for those with dogs it'd be helpful to know the main central stretch from the ramp isnt dog friendly so you can park accordingly. There is a car park further to the left from the main shops that'd be closer for a walk up that side. We didnt try the right side which is also a dog friendly part, opting for the left end of the beach that's a fair walk along a road and over the dunes. We did witness a few just using the ramp when we returned, so perhaps we shouldnt have followed the rules 🤷‍♂️. We did see a friendly seal swimming close to the beach though 🦭

Vernon R — Google review

Unfortunately we went on a rather windy day at high tide so the beach was rather small and very busy. But a low tide there is plenty of space. It's a brilliant beach.

Sarah M — Google review

What a beautiful beach this is, perfect for kids and walking the dog. Wasn't crowded atall end of August. Could also see some seals in the sea too. A pub and some food places right by the beach too which is good.

Andy G — Google review

Great family beach. Very clear water. Parking (£1.50 per hour) available near by. Very clean public toilets and shower available free of charge. Restaurant and pub near the car park

Lasitha L — Google review

Absolutely gorgeous beach to walk along with your dog. Seals can be spotted as well. You can walk along the hill just behind the sand for a better view of the surroundings, or on the actual sand. Not a bit of litter to be spotted. Very well taken care of.

Yidah L — Google review

A lovely beach with golden sands and easy access. Dogs are allowed. The downside was the diggers and workmen digging up the beach for the winter. Parking was £1.50 in the private carpark at the front for 1 hour.

David P — Google review

Came here for holidays as a child, beautiful beach and village, there are so many hidden coastal gems in Norfolk and this is one of them. Even in winter.

Mark L — Google review

Stunning long beach, you can walk forever under the big bright Norfolk sky. Dogs can run free and wasn't busy (Early October) at all.

Stefan P — Google review

Gorgeous, soft, golden sands with high sand dunes behind. The car park by the beach does charge every day, all year. Just off the shore, nine ridges of granite have been placed as an additional coastal defence. Actually, in my opinion, they enhance the view from the beach. At most states of the tide, one can walk long distances along the bottom of the sea wall. This quiet, attractive place is only about twenty-five minutes' drive from Great Yarmouth.

Stuart H — Google review

Amazing peaceful beach on a outstanding North Norfolk coast and in a quiet village it's a big sandy beach protected by rock groynes and sand dunes along the coast brilliant coastal walks it is also a lifeguarded beach gift shop chip shop and arcade near by toilets are close too I visited yesterday and the sun was shining around the area it was low tide and I had a really long paddle in the sea and then sat on the beach watching the world go by also walked along the coastline too I definitely recommend this beach to anyone if you're in Norfolk

Garden

Nature & Parks

East Ruston Old Vicarage Garden is a splendid tourist attraction that boasts expansive, imaginatively-designed gardens featuring an array of rare species, as well as an apple walk, woodland and cornfield. The walled and themed gardens exhibit a delightful range of plants and blossoms that one can purchase at the garden centre. A charming tea room offers delectable cakes while benches offer tranquil spots to savour the breathtaking scenery.

These gardens are great. Buying a map might be a good idea or using Google maps to keep a track of where you’ve been. The gardens are immense, eclectic and interesting. I can’t even begin to imagine what they are like in the summer. The cafe is really good. We sat outside with a ploughman’s each. Loads of beautiful outdoor spaces to sit. We had a cheeky robin join us. Great plant shop and lots of secondhand tools.

Paula L — Google review

This was quite the surprise. It's only one and a half miles from Happisburgh (pronounced Hazebruh) and, therefore, also the North Sea. I'd long intended to visit but last Sunday the weather was perfect. Blue skies and sunshine after many cold spring days. The car park is lovely. The cars are directed into spaces under the trees of the orchard. It feels very intimate. A nice little ticket office and then the gardens. Nothing really prepares you for how lovely they are. The layout is quite complex so do buy the guide book at the entrance. It's essential I'd say. But the gardens are so well thought out, so many unusual plants, intricate ideas and new in every zone within the garden. It is quite an extraordinary life effort. Two people bought this house in the early seventies and then created these most beautiful garden, or series of gardens. The gardens may have many visitors but you are never really aware of many others because of the many zones within them. The food and drinks are of good quality and all the staff are very lovely. The plant sales contain many good specimens and are well looked after.Do make the effort to visit this site and buy a season ticket because you will visit many times to see how it changes during the year.

Julian W — Google review

Absolutely stunningly beautiful, definitely worth the visit. Wonderful to see the pictures of how the garden was created and throughout the years.Tea room had many tasty delights and a very comfy room with a wood burner fire

M L — Google review

Really impressed with all the gardens - everywhere! 32 Acres is a very big area, and I'm afraid we didn't cover it all.. Really well planned and executed, some wonderful plants, all seemingly in the right environment for them! Initially thought admittance price of £11-50 a bit steep, but not once you could see just how much care and love has been poured into this lovely space!

Linda L — Google review

I would have given the gardens another star but as they do not provide any maps, I did not like just randomly wandering around the grounds not knowing how the different gardens connected with each other. At times we seemed to be going through wooded areas on the outside or the outskirts of gardens and after doing a lot of walking, we would come to more formal gardens that were closer to the entrance and cafe than we thought. With a small map we could have decided on a route and we would have found other gardens easier. The gardens themselves are well worth a visit and you shouldn't miss the alpacas.

Lucy T — Google review

Absolutely beautiful gardens and grounds. Visited today and was just in awe, there are so many lovely garden’s beautifully designed with such pretty flowers. Staff were really nice, friendly and helpful and full of information. Lots of benches to sit down on and take in the grounds. Lovely arch walk ways and beautiful structures such as the fruit cage and water feature in the Exotic Garden. Lovely framed views of Saint Mary’s church Happisburgh and Happisburgh lighthouse. Lots of lovey plants to buy and nice tea room. Will be back in the summer.

Hailey M — Google review

Beautiful place to visit with walled gardens, themed gardens and a wonderful range of plants and flowers to view. The garden centre allows you to buy some of the plants you will have seen on the walk around and there is a lovely tea room with an amazing range of delicious cakes. You could get lost in your thoughts wandering around these peaceful gardens with plenty of benches to stop at to admire the views.

Wanted to come here for so long, brought the mother in law along as a birthday treat.Took my two boys as well and they really enjoyed exploring the different gardens.we picked a rainy day, but that didn't put a damper on it. We had a little treat in the tea room, which went down well. The gardens are just incredible. Loved exploring this place. There was so much to see, every corner you turned. You can tell its a well loved and looked after garden. What a fantastic hidden gem.

Chose to visit after hearing about the gardens from locals. If you are after a peaceful, relaxing wander this is the place. The garden is amazing with so much to explore. It's certainly worth just sitting down and taking in the sights and sounds. A great place to be mindful. Admission fee slightly expensive but would still recommend a visit if you have some spare time on your hands and you are nearby.

Very enjoyable day out. Lovely gardens and good tea shop. Would be handy to have a leaflet with a map rather have to buy the guide book but wandering around discovering different gardens is still a pleasure.

In love with this place. Only down the road from where I live, try to come every year, but only been in August time, because I love hydrangeas so much and mainly come to adore them. Obviously lots of other plants to see too. I wish they sold their tomatoes, they got so many and different ones too. Next time might bring snacks as I can easily spend all day here. Look out for opening times, shut on Monday and Tuesday. Also cafe doesn't have hot food, only cakes and filtered coffee /tea

What an absolute gem of a place. I think it's the best garden I've ever visited. The variety of plants and the different areas were incredible. Also great gluten-free cake! A must if visiting North Norfolk.. we were there in early August. So many flowers in full bloom.

Beth B — Google review

I loved my day out here. There was so much to see, underestimated how big it was. Wity so many different beautiful sections to the gardens, which was lovely to see.

Rebecca T — Google review

Best garden we've been to! Lots to see, liked that you can just keep wandering and finding another little gem, no set route, just walk, sit, enjoy, and repeat. So many different varieties of plants, shrubs, trees. The water feature is fantastic! Good choice in cafe, had lunch first, walked around the gardens and then tea and cake afterwards.

Nikki S — Google review

Absolutely amazing garden, so much to see, great plants to buy and nice cake.

First time visiting , recommended by friend did not disappoint. Lovely set out gardens plenty to walk round and see. Places to sit and spend time reflecting. Interesting to round a corner and find another vista or walkway to another hidden gem. Wisterias were amazing on the pergolas and lots of gorgeous bearded iris Agave Montana has two flower spikes which are something to behold will be amazing when bloom. Loved the photographs of the progression from purchase and no garden to individual areas of garden. Small selection of plants to buy and lots of old gardening tools which are displayed , and can be purchased . Some I haven't seen for a while. Lovely cup of tea in the tea rooms and nice selection of meals and cakes. Spent a relaxing three hours here and never realised how busy it was until visited the tea rooms and saw the car park . Will definitely return later in the year to see a different range of flora

The Happisburgh Owls tourist attraction offers an exceptional animal encounter, highly recommended by reviews. Visitors can enjoy a unique experience of having tea while holding owls, which is both entertaining and educational. Sandra and Darwin, who manage the facility, have a remarkable bond with the owls, evident in how the birds respond to them. Each owl showcases distinctive personalities that add to the charm of the experience.

Brilliant, cannot praise the experience highly enough. Well worth booking a visit. Owls are lovely, hosts are welcoming and very knowledgeable. They clearly love what they do and the birds. Highly recommended.

Birthday surprise for my wife! It could not have been better as she had a mile wide smile the whole day as Sandra and Darwin gave us an Owl lecture and then allowed us to spend the rest of the day meeting and holding the owls - each time we held a new one they melted our hearts. Great location, excellent accommodation and superbly looked after birds - will be back next year.

Steve — Google review

We had a lovely afternoon with Sandra and Darwin who shared a magical day with us and their amazing collection of owls who were friendly and calm with our children. They made us feel at home and taught us lots of interesting facts and information which we will treasure for many years to come. Well worth experience all round amazing cake and coffee also supplied which was very tasty 😊

One of the best animal experiences I've ever had. Took my nan for her birthday and it was as amazing as the reviews suggest. I have never experienced anything like this before. Especially having a cup of tea while holding an owl! It was fun, educational and inspiring. Sandra and Darwin have great chemistry and it is clear how much they care and love the owls. You can see how the owls respond towards them both and every owl had individual quirky personalities which made it extra special. It was lovely to see how happy the owls are which is a credit to Sandra and how she has raised them. A true animal lover and it was worth every penny. Thank you so much for a wonderful day. I can't wait to visit again!

Well cared for with spacious housing, Sandra is very friendly & knowledgeable about her birds. Well woth the £5 per person entry fee.

Carol A — Google review

I cannot imagine a better way for a close up wildlife experience to be set up. Sandra and Darwin are both so clearly enamoured with the work they do, and the birds are all so well loved, looked after, and happy around people. The garden was beautiful despite the weather, and seeing all of the birds back in their aviaries afterwards really cemented just how much care and compassion has been put in to this place. Honestly this felt very little like a commercial operation and so much like being introduced to someones family, it was and just incredible and unique experience. A one in a million set up and so happy we were able to come and visit.

Richard G — Google review

We visited on Monday and had a wonderful experience. Sandra and Darwin spent hours teaching us about the owls and introducing us to them individually, giving us the opportunity to hold them, take photos and learn about the different species they have there. The owls are kept in beautiful, clean aviaries and the care they receive is obviously outstanding. The passion of Sandra and Darwin for their owls was really evident. We were made so welcome, treated to drinks and cake throughout our visit and given plenty of time to ask questions and interact with the owls. Highly recommend supporting Happisburgh owls through visiting - especially as the whole cost of entry goes towards caring so well for the owls.

Faye V — Google review

This is without doubt THE best up close and personal anyone could ever have with owls. Sandra and Darwin are amazing and they really interact with the birds in a way I have never seen previously. This is no 'pet in a shed' experience. This is true knowledge, dedication and genuine love of a species. Ever seen true interaction between wild animals and human beings? You will when you visit. Thank you for a truly amazing visit.

Greg D — Google review

A birthday gift and one of the best presents ever. Sandra and Darwin you are truly amazing people as are your magnificent owls who are treated with love and respect. If you suffer from a mental health problem you will leave with a feeling of utter peace and serenity. I will treasure this experience forever thank you both and to Alec an experienced falconer who took time out from his diy to show us another incredible bird 🦅❤️❤️❤️

I never leave reviews. This is because I very rarely feel anything is as good as it says it's going to be. Well Happisburgh Owls is so much better than anything I had read about it before I booked us in and we went. We were on holiday in Great Yarmouth. We made the 50 minute drive to Happisburgh to visit the owls and boy will I be forever glad we did. Was just me and my son and this experience turned out to be the absolute highlight of our holiday. We were made feel welcome from the second we walked in the gate. We didn't stop laughing at all the funny jokes and things Darwin kept saying. We could clearly see how cared for and looked after all the owls are. Our time with Sandra and "management" is something we will never forget and we cannot wait to go back. I am recommending here to everyone I talk to. We walked through the gates on Wednesday morning as just two people who had booked in for a visit yet hours later we left with wonderful new friends. We made memories that will last forever. X

This recent visit, I brought my two girls with me and they loved it! Darwin and Sandra was very good with them! It’s so nice to get up close to the owls and see each of their personalities ☺️

Absolutely wonderful experience, one of the best things I have done in a long time. Sandra and Darwin were amazing, their knowledge, care for the owls and the amount of joy this experience brought was an experience I’ll never forget. I’m in awe of what Sandra has done, the beautiful sanctuary she has created for the owls. Darwin had invaluable knowledge, passion and a unique friendly relationship with the owls. I enjoyed learning about owls and being in close contact with them, holding them taking pictures just being in their space. Egg butt and Mumbles tugged at my heart - visit this hidden gem it’ll leave a special place in your heart without doubt. ❤️

Outdoor Activities

The Amazona Zoo is a zoo featuring over 200 animals from South America. It's in a secluded parkland and has an indoor play area, cafe, and gift shop.

Wonderful time spent here at a leisurely pace. Plenty of time to fit everything in as a smaller park. Had a break on the park, rainforest springs- trampoline was a hit!We enjoyed the Tropical house most and the Marmoset monkeys.Plenty of parking, a great park for younger children.

Sara M — Google review

Love it here, a good day out with children. There's a decent assortment of animals from South America, a lovely play area, bouncing pillows and a nice little soft play. The cafe is really decently priced and get a good amount of food. The baked potatoes are perfect and huge! The shop has a good selection for not a bad price for a gift shop. We had a brilliant day out.

Rachel G — Google review

Nice little zoo with a good playground. We only spent an hour and a half there as it isnt very big. Price feels a little steep but understandable as they keeping all those animals can't be zoo.

Paul J — Google review

We had a nice time with our kids at the zoo. They were more excited to at sighting the leopard, which was very active at the time when we visited. They had mentioned the feeding time for each animals at the entrance and if you are lucky to be there you can see them feeding it.And the zoo staff will give a brief introductionof the animal at the time of feeding which was really interesting.Even though the number of animals was not that big, but still its worth for a visit.

Liju R — Google review

Lovely little zoo. It is quite small but great for little ones; any bigger they’d get tired walking around. Great selection of animals and the prices are reasonable too. Under 4s go free as well which is great! Definitely recommend if you have children.

Stevie J — Google review

We visited today and absolutely loved it. It took us (two animal obsessed people) about 3 hours to go round twice. There’s a wide variety of interesting animals and you can get so much closer to them than other zoos! I was amazed with how close I could be to the jaguar! This place is perfect for an affordable day out. I would highly recommend and visit over and over again! As somebody who is very involved in animal welfare i think this zoo takes care of their animals to a very high standard and I’m very impressed with all the space and enrichment they have!

Emma ( — Google review

Staff are so helpful and friendly. They are always willing to share their knowledge of all the animals. All animals very well looked after. Very friendly cafe with affordable prices

Julie K — Google review

Although it seems a little bit run down it has just gone through 2 years of very limited revenue. We had a great morning there and all the animals looked in great condition as was their enclosures.Well worth a visit

Paul R — Google review

A really small zoo, with not as many animals as I thought there would be. Took a second walk around to revisit some enclosures to see the animals but such sweet animals especially the little toucan bird in the picture. She was so sweet and interactive which was lovely. A nice zoo for the kids if your looking to spend a 2-3 hours here. As a young adult only spend an 1 hour here.

LozzyB_23 — Google review

Only 5mins driving from the beach/town. It's a small zoo so perfect for a walk. Many benches to stop and snack. Cafe, play area, gift shop, and clean toilets. If you're lucky the parrots will say hello to you or other animals will show up otherwise they hide. When ànimals hide, feels like nothing to see but the cages. I'm personally not impressed with their collection. They have a free small soft play area inside the gift shop.

Roads S — Google review

It was a great day out for all of us . The zoo keeps a variety of animals and birds from the tropical Amazonian climates . They are rare species and needs looking after in the cold uk climate . The best part of the zoo and not worth missing is the indoors where they keep reptiles and fishes that rule Amazon river . If you are lucky then you can meet the gorgeous Jaguar and Puma hiding somewhere or simply basking the sun. Altogether a great place for all ages and well done to the zoo staff

Arindom B — Google review

Amazona is a lovely little zoo. It's not massive by any means, but you can see that from the zoo map. We arrived at 10am for opening time and we were among around 6 other people at the zoo. We had no wait at the ticket office. By the time we had left (approx 2hrs), it had started to get a bit busier but not overly as its Easter sunday. Me and my family loved the little Patagonian Mara's that roam freely around the zoo. When we visited today we saw some tiny little baby Mara's with their mum, very cute. We didn't see the baby tapir which was a shame but we saw mum and dad and they were lovely. Today being Easter Sunday, they had a little Easter egg hunt around the zoo (handed a paper at the entrance) you go around the zoo finding eggs with clues and a letter to write down, at the end they letters make up a word. Was good fun while walking around the zoo. We loved the Tropical house. Will be good to see what enclosures they're going to add into it.We ate our picnic lunch in the Yurt which was lovely. Set out with various pictures and picnic benches. All the enclosures looked in good, well kept condition and the animals all looked healthy and happy. The visitor toilets both at the entrance and at the back by the park were clean and perfectly acceptable. The kids loved the park and we even visited the indoor soft play area before we left today. All in all, it's a lovely zoo and has a good array of smaller animals and 'big' cats. We will definitely we visiting again in the summer.

Had an amazing afternoon here , grounds kept really clean, tidy and considering the amount of rain we've had recently not many areas that are muddy either. Animal talks were very informative and really gave staff a chance to shine, showing there knowledge and care for the animals they look after .Bonus for us was the cafe !!! 4 of us fed and watered for less than £20 and considering we walked in 6 minutes before they stopped cooking ( didn't realise the time ) the lady that served us couldn't of been nicer explaining how as we had come in so late there was items unavailable (only 2 or 3 things ) but that anything else she could still do. Food was fantastic ( shout out to the cheesy chips 🍟)And all in all a lovely day out and really good value for money .

Jo A — Google review

arrived late morning had a lovely day wandering around plenty of animals to see friendly staff very reasonable prices in the cafe all round value for money for a few hrs 👍

Jamie P — Google review

Visited this zoo while on holiday in Norfolk. Expected to be round it in jig time. Surprised and delighted at how big it was with beautiful animals in peak condition. You could spend a day here with children as it also has a great outdoor play area. Raining? No problem as they have a soft play indoors. Shop and cafe to complet visit..... Perfect. Pleasant surprise with the reasonable prices for entry with free parking too. Definitely recommend a visit.

Margaret M — Google review

I love this place. take your time around this small zoo, there's no need to rush to make sure you cover everything.Indoor and outdoor play areas keep my lot busy while I sit nearby with coffee. There's a few picnic spots, but even with 6 kids, I like to eat at the zoos cafe/restaurant as the food and drinks are much better value than most places, the sausage rolls are lush and if you get a spot on the balcony, it's a lovely view across the bird lake, even on a rainy day x

Excellent little zoo. First time. Great facilities for the kids.

We wondered what to do with our 2 very small kids during a very rainy day, and decided to go to this museum. We had a lovely time. This museum is set up to welcome kids - our 3 year old had a fun time with the puzzles, the dress up, the morse code and the craft setups. The people working there are lovely too.
