Have you ever wondered why you get along with some people better than others? Or how to work better with a particular individual? "Surrounded by Idiots" by Thomas Erikson is an easy-to-read guide on human behavior that provides answers to these questions. It's been a little while since I revisited the DISC assessment and I found this book to be a helpful reminder that the best teams are made up of diverse personalities that can work well together. Check it out from your local library or pick up a copy and see how it can benefit you and your team! #humanbehavior #teamwork #professionaldevelopment

Day 2. Aristotle once said, “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.”Cirucmstances, childhood, and experiences all influence who we are today. However, at our core are the beliefs, traits, and attitudes that determine how we perceive information and make decisions.Myers Briggs is one tool that explores:1. How someone is energized: introversion/extraversion2. How someone prefers to take information in: sensing/intuition3. How someone prefers to make decisions: thinking/feeling4. How someone prefers to live their outer life: judging/perceivingWhen people talk about leaders, they often describe traits such as charisma or assertiveness. However, personality types are on a spectrum, and we shouldn’t discount the need for solitude and the ideas of those who are less outspoken.

Understanding introverts vs. extroverts is crucial for effective communication in meetings. Fist to Five is a powerful technique that helps enhance transparency and build consensus among team members. This technique allows everyone to express their opinions and ensures that both introverts and extroverts have an equal voice. #leadership #communication #extroverts #introverts #consensus

💡 Diversity and Inclusion is being discussed vividly but I haven't heard the discussion happening on the bias on introverts vs extroverts too often, especially in the corporate world. In dynamic sectors such as FMCG, we often hear "make yourself visible", participate, show owner mindset, engage, connect and other buzz words in order for you to be evaluated with an "exceeded" at the end of the year. While some functions might promote extroverts to be the "obvious" choice, it might be worth for companies looking at the topic on a broader perspective. There are two good reasons:❗ Size: A third tohalfof the population areintroverts. That's one or two out of three people you know.❗ A groundbreaking research byAdam Grant (management professor at Wharton), showing that introverted leaders sometimes deliver better outcomes than extroverts do (more likely to let talented employees run with their ideas, rather than trying to put their own stamp on things).🎞 In the video shared, Susan elaborates on the topic with many examples and explains why being an introvert does not mean that one is shy and that solitude can be crucial for creativity. There are some questions that I would like to highlight for our corporate world in terms of balance. Watch her inspiring TedTalk and give it a thought:❓Do we promote enough diversity in our company when it comes to introverts vs extroverts?❓Are we creating working zones with the right stimuli or for both (e.g. open office, think tanks, ...)?❓Are we consciously or unconsciously biased when it comes to introverts vs extroverts when considering employees for leadership positions?❓Are we experiencing a madness of constant group work?https://lnkd.in/gC8y7ptv#bias #diversity #introverts #extroverts #thinkingoutsidethebox

“It is always easier to argue from the negative side, criticizing other people's actions, dissecting their motives, etc. And that is why most people will opt for this. If they had to describe a positive vision of what they want in the world, or how they would accomplish a particular task, this would open them up to all kinds of attacks and criticisms. It takes effort and thought to establish a positive position. It takes less effort to work on what other people have done, and poke endless holes. It also makes you look tough and insightful, because people delight in hearing someone tear an idea apart. Facing these negative-mongers in a debate or argument is infuriating. They can come at you from all angles: hit you with sarcasm and snide comments, weave all kinds of abstractions that can make you look bad. If you lower yourself to their position, you end up like a boxer throwing punches into thin air.”- Robert Greene
