Recently, The Travel magazine (Canada) proposed the 12 best countries in East Asia that tourists should visit. The magazine describes Vietnam as "a beautiful gem in East Asia". This list also includes Korea, China, and Singapore, among others.

Also in the article, The Travel describes China as "one of the greatest countries in the world to explore". Korea is the “emerging cultural capital of East Asia”. Laos is a "wild and free" country, an explorer's dream. Mongolia is “one of the regions with the most pristine experiences”.
