How many days in Big Island is enough? ›

While the answer depends on your preferences and travel style, we recommend spending at least five to seven days on the island to experience its diverse attractions and activities fully. Ideally, as we noted above, you'd devote a week to 10 days to exploring the island.

Then my opinion would be to stay 2 days/ 2 nights. Enough time to see Hilo, including the Farmers Market and the nearby falls. I agree 2 days/2nights. This is the 'rainy' side of BI and really you can see most of the waterfalls in the area in about an hour (plus Akaka Falls when you drive past).

Hilo or Kona: Number of Days on the Big Island

If you are staying for a week on the Big Island and don't mind hotel hopping, I recommend staying 6 nights in Kailua-Kona and 1 night (2-days) in the Hilo or Volcanoes National Park area.
