Charles' emotional admission

Kate's trolls "lower than vermin" says royal expert

Kate's trolls, who have hounded her over the last few months with cruel conspiracy theories concerning her wherabouts, must stop after her appearance at today's Trooping of the Colour, says a royal expert.

"Unfortunately, I wish there was a way that it could be better policed, but there isn't one."

He added: "I mean, I think there will be less of it, because people obviously can see for themselves. But I despair at the moment of it ever vanishing."

Jennie Bond says Royals 'getting back on track'

Former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond has said Saturday's Trooping of the Colour, which saw Kate, Princess of Wales make her first public appearance in six months, shows that the Royals are "getting back on track".

Kate was pictured smiling an waving throughout the day's events at the King's birthday parade as she joined husband Prince William and children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine and Prince Louis, six.

Jennie told the Mirror: "Here were the Royals getting back on track after a shockingly alarming start to the year. The King has remained determinedly visible throughout his treatment and is now taking on a considerable number of engagements.

"And the Princess has shown us all that she is 'making good progress' and might be able to attend further events in the coming months. Meanwhile, we too shall have to be patient – just like her – while her body continues to heal and her strength returns."

Kate Middleton 'treated by King as equal' as Charles's pride and gratitude 'obvious'

King Charles is treating Kate, Princess of Wales as "an equal" and his "pride and gratitude" for his daughter-in-law are "obvious", according to a body language expert.

Britain put on a display of birthday pageantry today for His Majesty, a military parade that marked the Princess of Wales's first public appearance since her cancer diagnosis early this year. The annual event was also a show of stability by the monarchy after months in which both the king and Kate, wife of the heir to the throne Prince William, had been sidelined by cancer treatment.

In a symbolic display of unity, Charles, Queen Camilla, William, Kate, and their children were joined by other members of the royal family on a Buckingham Palace balcony at the end of the King's Birthday Parade. The family waved to the gathered crowd as they watched a flyby of military aircraft to cap ceremonies marking the monarch's official birthday.

Princess Kate's kids show 'intense pride' at mum during Trooping the Colour return

The young Princes and Princess of Wales looked intensely proud of their mother Princess Kate during her first public appearance today, a body language expert has claimed.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis were seen smiling and waving with their mum as they travelled along The Mall in a state carriage. It's the first time all three of the children have made a major royal appearance this year. Charlotte, nine, was seen beaming at the crowds while six-year-old Louis waved out of the window. Their father Prince William took part in the military parade on horseback.

Their outing marks a welcome return to the royal spotlight as the siblings were last seen together in public on Christmas Day with the rest of the Royal Family at Sandringham before Kate was admitted to hospital for abdominal surgery. It was announced yesterday that Kate would be attending the celebration of the King's official birthday with her family.

Cheeky Louis steals hearts after little slip up

Little Louis started the day off on the wrong foot as he slipped while waiting on the steps outside Buckingham Palace for the carriage to arrive. The youngest royal was captured taking a little tumble as he stood alongside his mum Kate and siblings, George and Charlotte, before the military parade began.

Footage of his reflection in the glass windows ahead of the event showed him innocently tripping on a step in the rain. A fan spotted the slip-up and took to X, formerly Twitter, to comment: "Notice how little Louis slipped for a second". The six-year-old appeared to be standing beside his older sister Charlotte.

William was seen being a doting dad on the balcony

Louis stole the show again at the climax of today's event, the RAF flypast, as he stood in front of his dad, William, who was captured cheekily tugging on his ears, like the typical jokey dad he is. While Charlotte and George were on their best behaviour, and Kate watched on in amusem*nt, William played with his youngest son's ears to keep him occupied.

The family were all thrilled by the planes and William and Kate chatted enthusiastically with their three children as they appeared on the balcony and stood shoulder-to-shoulder. The youngsters mimicked their parents as they waved out at the crowds in front of Buckingham Palace, and Louis did his typical double wave.

Joseph Gamp

Charlotte was on her best behaviour

Known for being the sensible and well-behaved older sister, Charlotte was absolutely no different today. As the rain poured on The Mall and the windows of the royal carriage steamed up, Charlotte took it upon herself to wipe the mist away so onlookers could see her and her siblings passing by.

The 10-year-old wiped the fog away from the glass with her bare hand as her mum Kate smiled and younger brother Louis waved out at people in the crowd. Charlotte was wearing a navy and white dress, with a white bow on the front, and her hair tied up away from her face, looking very poised.

Joseph Gamp

Prince Louis getting up to mischief

Louis appeared to cheekily tug on the blind cords as his mum Kate stood close to him, watching his every move. In his typical style, instead of looking out at the crowds, he pulled on the white cord at the window.

Continuing with his antic, he tried to lift the huge white window of the office as the duch*ess of Edinburgh looked on. Louis clenched his teeth and used both hands in an attempt to push the window up, as he was eager to look out over the balcony.

And shortly after, Louis was seen yawning while standing watching the parade from the window at the Duke of Wellington's former office. The little prince lifted his head back, with his hands behind his back, as he had a big yawn while his sister politely observed the event. But determined not to fall asleep, he danced his way through the show.

Louis jigged his hips from side to side and grinned as his mum Kate laughed behind him and Charlotte appeared slightly annoyed and muttered something to him. The BBC commentator chuckled as the comical moment aired live on television: "He's enjoying boogieing along to that."

Busy time for King Charles as he attends Trooping the Colour

It has been a busy time for the King, who earlier in the week appeared at the King's Foundation inaugural awards ceremony alongside celebrities, including Sir Rod Stewart and David Beckham. He also conducted a ceremony at Windsor Castle on Monday where he paid tribute to the "professionalism, courage and humour" of the Irish Guards ahead of the regiment's central role in Trooping the Colour today.

Charles' words of praise came as he presented new colours to Number 9 and 12 Companies, Irish Guards, during a Windsor Castle ceremony, where he highlighted the regiment's efforts during the Covid pandemic and "vital work to counter terrorism in Iraq and to bolster security across Africa".

Last week his busy schedule saw him head to Portsmouth as well as Normandy for commemorations for the 80th anniversary of D-Day. However, Prince William stood in for him at one event during the commemorations after it was ruled a "step too far" amid his cancer treatment. It saw William attend an international event at Omaha Beach with world leaders including US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron.

King Charles makes emotional admission to Queen Camilla during carriage ride to parade

King Charles was overwhelmed with emotion as his annual birthday parade kicked off today.

The monarch, who is undergoing treatment for cancer, left Buckingham Palace for the event in a carriage alongside Queen Camilla this morning. It is understood the King was advised by doctors to conduct the Trooping the Colour review from the Ascot Landau carriage, instead of on horseback as he did last year.

Charles, 75, smiled and waved at the crowds at The Mall as the rain poured down across London, but refused to dampen royal spirits. His daughter-in-law Princess Kate, 42, travelled in a carriage behind them with her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Charles and Camilla were seen in discussion as they took in the magnificent sights and the King made a touching admission to his wife about the celebrations. According to lip reader, Nicola Hinckley, Charles said to Camilla in the carriage: "Oh dear, I don't know why I'm feeling rather tearful."

Harry would have felt 'regret' at what he was missing today, says royal expert

Harry and Meghan famously attended the event, which was then for the late Queen, in 2018 shortly after their wedding, and in 2019, following the arrival of the couple's eldest child Archie.

Speaking to The Mirror in an exclusive chat ahead of the ceremonial event today, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has touched on how if the Sussexes were to attend, it would be "all about them". Meanwhile, elsewhere in the chat he spoke of Harry's "regret".

Mr Fitzwilliams said: "This year's Trooping the Colour which commemorates the King’s Birthday will be memorable as King Charles will be in a carriage as he courageously battles cancer."

He added: "Had matters proceeded as anticipated, Harry and Meghan, as senior working royals, would have been prominent in the ceremony and the coverage is worldwide. He would not be human if he did not have some regrets when he sees what he is missing, as he surely must. It is surely time he wore his Coronation Medal too."

Trooping the Colour would be 'all about Harry and Meghan' if they were invited

Trooping the Colour would have been "all about Harry and Meghan" if the Duke and duch*ess of Sussex were invited.

This weekend marks King Charles III's official birthday, despite the monarch being born in November, with Trooping the Colour set to take place today. Trooping the Colour is the formal State Ceremonial Parade in the presence of His Majesty The King on Horse Guards Parade in London by regiments of Household Division.

Not expected to be at the event today are the Sussexes and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Harry and wife Meghan stepped down as working royals back in January 2020, but prior to that, the couple had made two highly-anticipated appearances at Trooping the Colour.

Royal fans share same concern for King Charles during Trooping the Colour salute

King Charles fans took to social media to share their exasperation at the monarch being left to stand in the rain during the Trooping of the Colour salute today.

The King saluted the Irish Guards in the rain during celebrations today, causing his admirers to worry for his health. “It’s a long old day for King Charles to stand in the rain tbh,” one person wrote on the social media app X. “Why is the king standing in the rain getting cold???” another person asked. “He will get pneumonia !!! Get him in!” One person said that someone “Could have got him a covered stand.”

Major royals who've missed out on palace balcony spot at Trooping the Colour

The pinnacle of Trooping the Colour saw the Royal Family proudly stand on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the thrilling RAF flypast.

King Charles led his royal relatives onto the balcony following the military spectacle including the Princess of Wales, who was making her first public appearance of the year. The group that also included Prince Willliam, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, waved to the crowds who had gathered on the Mall and looked delighted as the Red Arrows flew overhead.

However, not all of the King's relatives made it onto the balcony, with some not featuring during the event. And it seems that's because once again the balcony has been restricted to working royals only. This means that those that did not feature were Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were also missing from the celebrations, having not received an invitation to attend Trooping the Colour for the second year running.

The protests held posters with the words “Down with the King” and “Not my King” splattered across in the air.

CEO of Republic, Graham Smith, who organised the march, spoke to the Mirror: “There’s a good energy, we came here and did what we had to do.

“We were able to speak to the police during the week to make sure we could do what we had to do successfully.

He added: “We’ve been campaigning a long time, but within the last 18 months with the transition of the monarchy we’ve been campaigning a lot more. It’s completely changed since the Queen died.”

With heckles and rants shouted at the protestors, Graham, 50, he said: “I quite enjoy it. Obviously, it is more royalist right now.

“It’s like if you’re a Liverpool fan and turn up in a Manchester stadium it’s what you expect.
